A Ranma1/2 and Rosario + Vampire crossover that keeps everyone in character. Except for changes that make sense and are the result of them being in character around each other. It's...literally the best fanfiction I've ever read. I'm serious here. It also doesn't go the normal R+V crossover route and replace Tsukune, he's just as important of a character as everyone else.

Summary: Ranma Saotome's epic final showdown with Saffron, the Phoenix King, draws the attention of Youkai Academy. Specifically the destruction of the mountain they had their battle on. Mistaking him for a monster, they send an invitation for him to join them at Youkai Academy. And so, Ranma is transferred in after being expelled from Furinkan because he missed too many days as a result of said epic final showdown. He meets Tsukune on the bus, absolutely no one will believe his insistence that he is actually a human, and hilarity ensues from then on.

It's full of comedy. So much comedy. And epic fight scenes.

(Bit of a warning. A few people who would have fallen for Tsukune...well, don't. Don't know if this counts against the rule concerning shipping. The author managed to do this while keeping everyone in character.)

All right, there may be a violation or two here, but I genuinely enjoy comedy fanfics, I have read hundreds of them - and I can say with absolute confidence that Double Rainbow: Director's Cut [http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/08/story-double-rainbow-directors-cut.html] by ProBrono is the single greatest fic I've ever read. And if you're looking for a hilarious fic, it WILL fit the bill!

It concerns My Little Pony, in case that wasn't obvious. It was written for a "Craziest Fic" - contest, for which it won first price. Oh, and while it does revolve around a decidedly non-canon shipping scenario, I think you'll find that it is very elegantly handled - and that the pony involved is very much in character nonetheless! [small]At least in terms of shipping...[/small]

Incidentally, the contest rules stipulated that the fic had to include a "strange ship" - as well as the following phrase: "But really, I don't want to. It's just too hard and I don't like it that way." ProBrono takes both these rules and runs with them. [small]It's not porn, though. I swear.[/small]

The Lion of Ivalice by Obsidian Dawn (AU Final Fantasy Tactics with some great battles)

Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Idiocy Action by Dark Ghidora (Metal Gear parody)

Honor Trip by American Vigor (AU redemption story for my favourite Dragonball villain)

Any of Magus523's novelizations past 2006. He is one of the few authors I can look at his earlier works and say without question that he has improved over time, and his current state is very good indeed as he prepares to wrap up a multi-author continuity of over a dozen Mega Man novelizations and side stories (including the aforementioned prequel).

*The Pony POV Series by AlexWarlorn (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic)
A fantastic story that takes a different approach to the "Discording" concept... and the results ain't pretty. While somewhat of a darkfic, it also improves how things are for certain characters. My advice? Start with the Discorded POV (mini)series, then if you're interested, move on to the Reharmonized POV series.

*Marie D. Susse and the Mystery New Pirate Age by Phalanx (One Piece)
What starts as a parody of Mary Sues gradually morphs into a deeper examination of the concept. Give it a look, you might be pleasantly surprised.

*Lost in the Woods and No Good Deed by Aardwolf (Firefly and Star Trek: The Next Generation)
Okay, the first one focuses mainly on the TNG cast, while the second is mostly focused on the characters of Firefly. But still, it?s a good story, and the end of this duology is ? in my honest opinion - far more satisfying then what happened in Firefly canon?

*A Bad Week at the Wizengamot by Disobediance Writer (Harry Potter)
As someone who has considerable disdain for how the Wizarding World treated Harry Potter in the books, this was almost a breath of fresh air for me. It's oddly cathartic, seeing how everything falls around Fudge, and how it is rebuilt. Yes, there is some OOCness, but in some ways it makes this fic funnier.

*How Xenophilious Lovegood Saved Britain by Arpad Huntra (Harry Potter)
Like the above, it's sort of a "what if" tale depicting certain alterations to the Wizarding World, leading to a better outcome for - almost - everybody.
