...No idea what to add now. Probably the games that I've played that contain a jetpack... which would be Tribes Asscend and Tribes 2.

...How is Dark Void? Does Far Cry : Blood Dragon have one? Sorry there isn't much to write about, I'm bored and tired.

We all do, friend. We all do.

Dark Void can be best described as immensely disappointing. It's not terrible, certainly wouldn't be the worst game you've ever played, but it's glaringly obvious that the dev team ran out of time, money, or both and couldn't step up to the lofty goals they had set themselves. It's got fairly generic but serviceable third-person shooting and the jetpack is legitimately fun (even during the frustrating moments when you accidentally activate it inside someplace and plaster yourself along the walls, ragdoll-style), but the story barely even approaches the train tracks that resemble a cohesive narrative and never actually starts riding the rail, and it's got its fair share of bugs.

I don't know why jetpacks aren't more common in games. But for that matter, I don't know why cyberpunk/sci-fi in general isn't more common -- especially outside of shooters -- though it's been getting a little better in the past two years.

You could try Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. You get one from a mission at around the middle of the game, it has unlimited fuel and you've even got access to your handguns so you can do air-by shootings. Duke Nukem 3D has one as well, although it has a limited use and it's a real pain the ass to find another one.

EDIT: Just remembered that there is also a Jetpack in Serious Sam 3: BFE. In the main game it's only used in the final boss fight, but there are a few survival maps you can download for free that make heavy use of it.

Play LoL, acquire Pulsefire Ezreal, hit level 16, Mega Man around all day. I even type "gg jetpack" in allchat once I get it.

That's about it really. However, Blood Dragon has a Neon Bow. Yes. A bright blue NEON BOW. Fucking badass.

I once played a (homebrewed I think) Jetpack game on the GBA.
It was terribly simplistic, had crude graphics (Your character was nothing more than an upside down L) and was as absolute blast.

Think destructible environments somewhat similar to minecraft in an Atari setting with rockets, floating mines and C4.

Tribes Ascend, guys? C'mon. The whole thing about that game is the jetpacks.

Erm... halo reach and halo 4 have jetpacks but they don't play a large part. Does vanquish have jetpacks? I haven't played it myself but for some reason it rings a bell.

If you don't mind something multiplayer (MMO even) then try out Planetside 2. Free to play so if you don't like it just delete and forget. Light Assault class has jet packs and practically every station on every continent seems to be designed with their use in mind, so they're not just a useless toy - sometimes you flat out can't capture a station without either those or aircraft.

Allow me to go PS2.

Crypto from Destroy All Humans! has a built-in jetpack, but it essentially acts like a double-jump/gliding module.
I remember Anderton gets jetpacks now and then in Minority Report, but gameplay is pretty sucky.
CJ in GTA: San Andreas famously gets a jetpack. I think it's one of the best.
Jango in Star Wars Bounty Hunter, of course, has an unlimited jetpack. Pretty cool too.

You can have a jetpack EVA in Kerbal Space Program. That counts right?

The Dead Space series has a number of zero-G jetpacking sections.

Oddly not, well, at least not vertical jetpacks. The sliding rockets are sometimes used to fly in quicktime events or cinematics, but not in gameplay itself.

I'm sure it's been modded in multiple games and simply not noticed.

Cave Story? Although that's less the joy of flight and more the anxiety of navigating spike lined corridors.

Silver Knights is free for PC if you have some friends up for a LAN party. It's some fun mech fighting, and every fighter has some level of jetpack power.

Not sure what you mean.
Found the game, would post a link but obviously then I would be 'advertising' and blah blah.
You can find it super easy on google if any one is interested. Just search "jet pack 2 GBA".

Looks as though no further sequels were made. : C
Sad, the game has the potential to be a tremendously fun time waster.

It was said that the only good thing about Dark Void was the jetpack, so maybe it's not the best game, but the game for you? You could always play some Worms, or play Starcraft 2 and go full reapers, but I'm guessing that's not the kind of gameplay you had in mind. Jet Kirby in Kirby Super Star is a jetpack.

EDIT: No, I cannot suggest buying Dark Void. I didn't like the demo and what I've heard is: it's mediocre. Of course, I haven't tried the 2-D version so maybe that's goodness for $5 equivalent.

Giant Citizen Kabuto (or somethign close to that) has some great jet pack combat if I remember right, and is probably practically free now.

There was a star wars bounty hunter game with some decent jetpack gameplay as well if I remember right.

Only two that pop out at me for now.

I'd say Dark Void. Maybe Iron Man if you're really desperate. Those are the only games I can think of where the jetpack isn't just a button that you hold to slowly ascend. The Battlefront games also handle it alright. The Empire has soldiers with jump packs, kind of tricky but give you a bit of a Starship Troopers feel, and the Republic has jet troopers (rather than holding to boost up, it puts in a hover mode that lets you zip around pretty quickly and in every direction until your fuel runs out).

And common guys, movement in Tribes is fun, but it's not because of the jetpack.

I've actually used a Jetpack in Operation Flashpoint, one of the precursors to Arma. It was ridiculosuly fun to fly around firing the mounted Uzi. To be honest though I think we all killed ourselves with it more then we did the enemy.
