What kind of bill? Local governments, the US Senate, all use different sorts of bills.
I'd assume you could hit up wikipedia to find a famous bill passed through senate or two, look them up online, and compare them to learn structure.

Insert "Shipwright" joke, I assume.
P.S. wright, is spelled write.
Right! (couldn't resist)

Sorry, don't take this as an attack but I felt compelled to comment. When reading your OP, every time I saw 'wright' it felt like I was being slapped. Having it three times in a row like that was a sensation worth wrighting about.

Maybe if the original poster was more descriptive about what kind of "bill" he was writing (there are more than one kind. The kind you have to pay? The kind you try to pass in government? If so, are there any more details we need to know about your class? Maybe the subject you're studying now, or if you're expected to pass a bill regarding some particular political issue?) I could be more helpful.

I don't know how to write a bill in some official way, but I would think your class would have given you the tools to have some idea how that would go. I can offer general writing tips or look over your work for mistakes/errors/possible improvements that could be made, and there are many other more qualified people who would be happy to do the same.

Here's a thought, first: learn to spell, regardless of if you are on a school computer or not, you are not helping anyone believe that our generation is intelligent when you can not write your own text without the aid of a computer.

(Side note: People, learn to read maps! GPS' are great but when the doomsday happens...)

Here's a link: you can use, http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:hc1rfs.txt.pdf referring to the: H.Con.Res. 1 (rfs) Regarding consent to assemble outside the seat of government.

I googled "bill of congress" and that was the second or third hit (from .au), wherein I could search all the bills for the 111th Congress.

Read that, figure out how it sounds, then write your own. Preferably about something like "weight limits". If you wrote one that was oppressive but looked nice on the face of things, (i.e. An individual or party must be within the variable weight of a normally healthy homo sapien to partake in the products of an outlet which touts itself as a producer of food that is cheap and quickly prepared) it would be almost exactly like a lot of the Congressional Bill's that don't make it through.

By the way, that "bill" I just wrote is both a joke at American weight stereotypes, and a serious thought I have about who should be permitted to eat in places that do not sell only healthy foods. But that is for another day and a forum where I don't mean being a harsh son of a *****.

Edit: Senatorial bills are also available online, googling "bill of senate" produced the above link as second result, and this ( http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/legislative/g_three_sections_with_teasers/legislative_home.htm ) as first result.

We're here to help, not do it for you. Though I think your teacher is doing it wrong anyway.

First step should be :::GASP::: research. Go find out what a Bill is.

:::SPOILER ALERT:::::

A bill is a proposed law. This link will be helpful (and FUN!!!):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEJL2Uuv-oQ

Then, figure out what you want to make a new law about, find an example of a bill on the web (they are there), and "wright" one.

Erm, are you guys really in a government class? The Senate is part of the US Congress, the other half of the bicameral legislature being the House of Representatives? Any bill will have to pass through both chambers in identical wording.

I know that and I'm not even a yankee. Yikes. Just type 'US Congress' into wiki and away you go.

I will tell you like I just told you in class 5 min ago. Use thomas.gov look at a bill and get the outline from that.
