In the same boat, though it didn't really make me feel much of anything, most of the plot twists and arcs I predicted when characters were introduced and it just was sorta a checklist of what was gonna happen for the most part(though I still apparently like the part everyone hates in the bike chase after the Shinra building thing for whatever reason). Also I'm apparently a heretic and need to be burned because I enjoyed FF8.
Overall, it's a decent game and quite nice for being the first game to hit that mark for whatever reason, but eh, it's got far too many problems, the least of which being how exploitable and boring the battle system(also seriously make a choice between real-time and turn based, the mix just does not work) is for me to say it's more than just being the first and not be the "Best" or even close to that.
At least for me, and I seriously think far too many people stick rose-tinted screwdrivers in their eyes before they replay it, not to mention the remake is yet again something that'll be praised back and forth because it's related to FF7 and as we all know, those two letters and numeral mixed together in any combination mean something will sell faster than ten buck heroine.
