Transparency isn't all it's cracked up to be. People have different facets that they show in different situations - who you are at work isn't the same as who you are among your family, nor the same as who you are among you friends, nor who you are on the internet. Messing with that is sometimes dangerous.

Thats the difference between me and other people. I am this way everywhere im quick with a joke, nice to everyone i meet I swear a lot more in real life than i do on the internet. it just easy for me

I have so many different nicknames from so many people when someone actually calls me my proper birth name I find it quite a shock. I also hate my name which is another reason I don't bandy it about.

I'm amused a minecraft reference was drawn from my use of the word "minerals" in place of "balls"

Especially as i've never played minecraft

Your name means very little and let's face it, you don't need to be traceable to take responsibility for your actions. And if you don't think that is a better position to be in, why would you say it? I assume you either desire gratification or you're giving it to yourself, or you simply desire to enlighten the rest of us, all of which suggest that you think it's a superior position to be in.

Let me just clarify that I have nothing against you, I just think you should make the point you're making clear, which seems to be that everyone should drop their anonymity shields and be more cautious of what they say.

My username has spilled over into my normal life to the point of being called by it with people I've known for years. This is because I use it pretty much everywhere.

This. I am dstryfe pretty much everywhere you see it online...except XBox Live, stunningly, where someone beat me to it in order to get Bioshock acheivements (and none other). There it's d5tryfe. This is the way I try feeling responsible for what I say on top of still hiding. That said, I tend not to say stupid things because I don't want to be responsible for the stupid things floating around the internet.
