I think it's funny how some people think that having an online handle is somehow protecting your identity. Finding out who someone is through their online profiles and such is not as difficult as most people think, it just requires more than pushing a button or using a search engine. This is especially true if you use the same handle, even if it isn't your real name, on multiple forums or different platforms (IE your forum handle is the same as your XBox Live and PSN names). I don't think there's anything wrong with people using a handle, whatever their reason for it. You can still hold someone accountable for being stupid online even then, unless your idea of holding someone accountable is going to their house and beating the crap out of them. At that point, it's usually just easier to report them or ignore them.

Stalkers driving by your house after telling you "they love to see women gasp for air as they squeeze their throats" Posting pictures of your home and street address, leaving notes on your bedroom window describing everything you did the day before. Leaving some kind of weird destroyed gift basket on your front door with a note telling you " If you don't talk to me this will be you".
Now after paying a buttload of money to remove all information about me online and numerous police calls and an arrest and prosecution, I have learned my lesson VERY well. Too much info is not good thing at all. It is fun being to hang out with guild buddies and such, but you don't have to let everyone have access to your information. You should be VERY select in who you allow access to that.

I think the only time someone sheds internet anonymity and starts taking some responsibility for what they say is if they've stuck with one name/persona for several years - on several different boards. If people recognise you between one place and another, or can google your name and come up with fifty pages of crap that you once said, then you've got something of a reputation to answer to.
So basically, try using your real name for the next five or ten years so that you're TRULY responsible for everything you say IRL and out. Then it might be worth bragging about.

Well my real name is Bill White, But I get called that enough in every day life so I thought Fingerbang would be a worthy adjustment
