I'm having a small crisis... Portal 2 may have just been spoiled for me... I don't know if it's true (it may have been a troll and it sounds a little far-fetched, but not TOO far-fetched...), but I just HATE it when this happens (happened to me for Red Dead Redemption too...).

Have you guys ever experienced anything like this? And if so, is there a way you made yourself forget the spoiler? Luckily, Portal 2 arrives for me anywhere from the 26th to the 30th, so I have time to devote my thoughts to school and driving and whatnot to repress what I read...

Also, please use both common sense AND common decency while here; DON'T ACTUALLY POST ANY SPOILERS. You can post the name of the thing that was spoiled (ie. Portal 2, Red Dead Redemption, etc.) but not the ACTUAL spoiler. Thanks.

EDIT: It's the Cold War and, like Commies, Spoilers are frigging EVERYWHERE. In order to protect myself and preserve Portal 2, I am cutting myself off from ALL Portal-related anything until it arrives at my doorstep next week... TO THE BUNKERRRRR!!!!

I only dislike spoilers on things I actually plan on watching but have not yet. Portal 2 was fantastic, and non-spoiler commendation, I like what they've done with their model design theory.
There are several movies I have yet to see that I have made a point of avoided finding out what they're about, and thankfully they're all so old that no one would bother spoiling them for me.

Also this should be moved to the Off-Topic discussion.

As long as no one told you about the Mars Mission in Portal 2, you'll be okay.

...

Oh shit, fuck me.

On topic, many things have been ruined for me. But really, if a spoiler can actually ruin something, it probably wasn't good to begin with.

For example, a friend told me some stuff about Portal 2. Complete spoilers. But when I got to those points he 'ruined,' I found knowing about them had no bearing on how awesome the game was.

If that was a joke/spoiler, you are a very funny/dead man.

I'm sorry, Saxton Hale.

If it's any consolation, the puzzles on Mars are *****'en!

I'm rushing to get through Portal 2 right now to avoid getting spoiled. EDIT: Done. That was truly epic.

Someone posted a screenshot from the ending yesterday! I had to respond without looking at it, which was pretty hard.

I had the plot of Ender's Game described to me in great detail before I read it... twice. I still like the book but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I would have if I hadn't known what was going on. As for ways to forget spoilers all that works for me is to go a few months without thinking about it but I doubt you'll going to want to wait that long.

Ah I remember years ago, as I was just getting into "modern" horror films, and my friend happened to be discussing a movie she watched the other day. She couldn't remember what it was called, but thought it was quite obscure and so I thought I wouldn't ever see it, so allowed her to discuss the movie including the twist at the end in some detail.

That movie was Saw, and I was so pissed off.

Back when I got Halo 2, a friend of mine called me up and let slip that
you get to play as the Arbiter.

The worst part is that I had gotten to the level right before that event. If I had started the game just a half hour sooner it wouldn't have been an issue.

Most things are spoiled for me. I go out of my way to have things spoiled beforehand.

If me and my brother get the same game (he has an xbox, I have a PS3) and he finishes it before me, he'll tell me the ending in detail and spoil the rest of the game for me.

As he has the xbox in his room and the PS3 is downstairs, he can play more then me and ends up finishing before me every time.

Yeah, I hate spoilers and if I was king of the Internet, anyone who posted them without proper warning would not only be permanently banned from the website they were posted on, but the entire Internet. In fact, make me king of the world and the punishment for spoilers shall be public beheadings with our old friend the guillotine. Have some damn respect for your fellow man and properly hide or warn about spoilers.

Anyway, someone "spoiled" Grand Theft Auto IV for me, kind of. They posted something that was bullshit. It was still just as annoying though, because I spent the whole game wondering if this it the part where that thing they mentioned happens.

For the record, the punishment for that one would be a day in the stocks with lots of rotten tomatoes and other things on hand for everyone else to throw at you.

I absolutely massively hate spoilers. I think of the backside texts of books and movie cases as spoilers.

Yeah. One of the few reasons why I haven't been around here lately is to not catch any Portal 2 spoilers, as I've pre-ordered it from Steam as soon as I could, and haven't got to finish downloading and to play until today, because my Internet connection has been extremely weak in recent times.

Spoilers are a great reason to buy a game on release and play it before everyone else :)

Got up at 7 am in the morning to play portal 2 and didn't stop until I was finished with both singleplayer and co-op.

I'm curious to know what they told you OP.
okay...
but before I do, 2 things:
1. if it IS true, please, for the love of GOD, do NOT confirm or deny it.
and
2. this is a tad embarassing, as I've been on the Escapist for a while... but... how does I haz spoilers?
