Mass Effect 2... oh God why? The epic events of the opening utterly ruined by every trailer, interview, video, forum, etc. But by far the worst - I got the collector's edition with the shiny artbook. I have a look through. And what should I find on page 6 but the identity of the damn final boss. That pretty much killed The Reveal at the end :(.

I absolutely massively hate spoilers. I think of the backside texts of books and movie cases as spoilers.
True dat, and descriptions of films on Sky. I was watching Case 39 and wanted to check how long it was, or something, hit the info button and got a message

Basically saying "It's not the parents and it's not the house, the little girl is evil"

Now to be fair, you can kind of guess that after about half an hour, but I read this 5 minutes in and was so pissed off!

I hate spoilers too, especially if it is in story driven games like Mass Effect or such. I often try to isolate myself from games I look forward too, so I wont get anything spoiled. Right now i'm trying to ignore everything about Deus Ex: Human Revolution until it arrives... ON MY FRIGGIN BIRTHDAY, nice timing Square Enix, nice timing. Could'nt it just have been released a week earlier so I didn't have to pay for it myself... oh well, spoiled little brat attitude away...

Oh, by the way, Jesus dies

I'm curious to know what they told you OP.
alrighty, figured out spoiler tags. just remember, please, no one confirm or deny the following. don't even respond to it. I really really REALLY want to experience Portal 2 on my own. Thank you.
aaaaaaaanyways...
I saw a blip of a comment (could have been a troll) saying that, in the end, you and GLaDOS team up to fight Wheatly. and also (on this thread), I was told that Chell goes to Mars... again, probably a troll, seeing as how:
1. Mars doesn't make any sense
and
2. I blatantly asked for NO spoilers, can't see someone act like that big of a douche and not get spanked by the admins... soooooooo... yeah, that's what I was told.

I'm kinda 50/50 on believing it myself, might be true, might not be. all I do know is that Portal 2 arrives on my doorstep sometime around the 26th and that I'll have a blast finding out on my own.

I have a friend who is absolutely terrible for this. See, all he ever does in his free time is watch cutscenes to games on YouTube or pirate movies from the internet and watch them. And then when we hang out he always lets slip a bunch of spoilers.

Examples:
"Hey, did you know that Snape kills Dumbledo... oh sorry, you still haven't seen the movie yet, have you?"
"Man, I hate how they start up Force Unleashed 2. They totally killed the main character in the first game! Oh wait, you haven't beaten the first game yet have you?"

The worst for me was the ending of RDR. I live in Europe so we got the game 3 days earlier. I was kinda trying to avoid it, but just in an RDR gameplay video some douche just said it without cause.

I'm having a small crisis... Portal 2 may have just been spoiled for me... I don't know if it's true (it may have been a troll and it sounds a little far-fetched, but not TOO far-fetched...), but I just HATE it when this happens (happened to me for Red Dead Redemption too...).

Have you guys ever experienced anything like this? And if so, is there a way you made yourself forget the spoiler? Luckily, Portal 2 arrives for me anywhere from the 26th to the 30th, so I have time to devote my thoughts to school and driving and whatnot to repress what I read...

Also, please use both common sense AND common decency while here; DON'T ACTUALLY POST ANY SPOILERS. You can post the name of the thing that was spoiled (ie. Portal 2, Red Dead Redemption, etc.) but not the ACTUAL spoiler. Thanks.

EDIT: It's the Cold War and, like Commies, Spoilers are frigging EVERYWHERE. In order to protect myself and preserve Portal 2, I am cutting myself off from ALL Portal-related anything until it arrives at my doorstep next week... TO THE BUNKERRRRR!!!!
Hey no worries man, we all hate spoilers. The spoilers I hate most are --

[HEADING=1]GLaDOS IS THROWN INTO THE SUN IN THE CLOSING SCENES[/HEADING]

-- those which make the game completely unworth playing... Ah damnit, did I just spoil?

Portal 2 is one of those games where every other thing that happens is a spoiler - I'm GlaD I pre-ordered and played it through in a few sittings, with everything I know now about children's science projects and the dietary range of crows.

Just to be clear, they're all messing with you, none of that crap was the real ending to Portal 2.

Anyway, OT: I don't mind spoilers, I usually read them if I'm not that interested in the or don't care about the story, but if it is something that I want to see fresh I always avoid spoilers, I don't even enter threads that have their title in them. That's how I went unspoiled on RDR.... and then nearly wept when [HEADING=1]John Marston was sucked 400 years into the future and forcibly turned into a cyborg war machine, forced to fight against mankind, in a truly shameful sequel hook.[/HEADING]

I find "hate" to be a very strong word... congratulations, you have officially earned my hate. I wish you nothing but the absolute worst, good sir. I hope you're happy with yourself.
I request a ban, unless this is a joke.
It's a joke, don't worry. If GLaDOS fell into the sun, how could she kill Dumbledore? And who would reveal that Cave Johnson is Luke's father?

OT: I dislike spoilers, but unless something is primarily about the story, I can still enjoy other aspects of the medium despite knowing a plot event or two. Even then, knowing what's going to happen doesn't spoil the build up to that event, which can be just as exciting.

I really, really hate spoilers. Actually, the Escapist's own review of Portal 2 spoiled a little bit for me.

I had the ending of Shutter Island spoiled for me. I never ended up going to see it, and I probably would have otherwise.

no thanks, just had them confirmed as fakes. I won't state them for people who want to be TOTALLY in the dark before playing, but if you want to see them, I posted them earlier on under a spoiler tag.

Yeah it was just a joke, don't fret. I'd never be that mean.

There's honestly isn't very much to spoil in Portal 2. The media has made it up to be 'full of spoilable events!!111' but it really isn't. It's very sparse in the story department. Really, the only thing that could be spoiled are the ways to solve the puzzles and that's far too complex to spoil in an accidental, off-handed way.

That's not to say it isn't a great game because it certainly is (although it's not worth 3 times the price of the original, I completed the original in 4 hrs and Portal 2 in 6...), its environments and clever use of pre-fabricated physics and skyboxes to give an illusion of a much greater world are definitely worthy of respect.
