Oooh, I see.

I don't really consider things like that cinematic, just silly.
Indeed, the last game to do that shit was Wet. But the soundtrack made up for it. I like Surfer Rock?. Who knew? I know that I didn't until I played that game. I beat it, never touched again...Because I'd heard all the songs.
God, Wet was terrible. Hated that game.

It was like John Woo's Stranglehold but without nostalgia goggles and worse controls.
Oh god, the gameplay was bad. Make no mistake. I just really, really, really, really, really, really liked the soundtrack. And there was nothin' else out.

It's like heaven. To my ears at least. Music is all personal taste.

I have the same problems with Uncharted, good to know the second game has the same problems.

Hell, I got the game with my PS3 and I still feel like I paid too much for it.

could your problems have stemmed from a lack of, skill? Just asking.
Doubtful. I've beaten three CoD games on Veteran, both Gears on Insane, Bayonetta on Hard mode, and done a challenge mode run in R&C: Deadlocked.
Well good for you! I completed MGS4 on The Boss extreme, and Uncharted 2 in Crushing, as well as MG1, MG2, MGS, MGS2, and MGS3. I have some experience with third person shooters, and I found that out of the ones I've played, Uncharted and it's sequel had some of the most satisfying gun-play I have ever experienced. I'll admit that the grenades were atrocious, but I myself had no problem with aiming or shooting. The platforming was great! I never once had a moment where I'd clearly done something right, and the game not accept it, (unlike Mirror's Edge of course.) I'm sorry that you have any problems with the gameplay, but I think the general consensus is that the gameplay is fine.

Hmmm, well personally I found the 3rd person shooting only second to Gears, and the platforming is probably the best I've ever seen.

So I really have no clue what you're talking about...=/

I bought Uncharted 2 when I bought my PS3, and I loved it. I filed it into my 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' category, and it fits nicely. I only had a couple of snags with the gameplay, but nothing that made me dislike the game.

Soon as I started to get bored/bothered by waves of enemies the situation would progress. I'd like it to progress a little faster through this situations, but you can't have everything. I absolutely looooved how the notebook was used in the game too.

Also, I'm not a big fan of watching movies, seeing less than 10 a year (including DVDs!), so cinematic generally is a minus is my book.
Then you shouldn've liked Uncharted at all. If any game is the epitome of being a cinematic game, it's the Uncharted series. From it's storytelling to it's gameplay to it's set pieces.

As that is something I dig, I absolutely adored Uncharted 1 and 2. And neither do I share your problems with the platforming and shooting. If anything it felt very intuitive to me, both of them.

That said, Uncharted 2's online can kiss my bahookie. If a match is decided by whoever can get to the grenade launcher first, you screwed up somewhere.
I never found it thát bad, if only thanks to it's very limited ammo capacity. You usually need 2 grenades per target and I think it has one extra clip, that's 6 kills in an ideal situation. But it's so easy to get behind people in U2 that I never had that much problem with killing grenade launcher users.

I heard bad things about the platforming, so I opted out of buying the games when I got my PS3. I now have to thank you for confirming my suspicions and making me feel good about not wasting my money.

I love the games, I have both. I never had any of your problems, but I have had some problems with the platforming at parts (stupid ledges that blend in with the background). I personally found that the combat improved with the sequel (enemies could no longer take an entire clip of ammo to take down and the weapons tend to have more ammo).

I hated the first one. The shooting was monotonous, there were only two kinds of enemy, the platforming was boring and the story and characters did nothing for me. Pretty graphics though.

Second one was much improved. Decent shooting, interesting platforming, more variety in enemies, some good level design, even prettier graphics. Story and characters still bore me though. Except Tenzin. He was cool.

I thought the shooting and platforming were perfect, sure you were playing the same game? xD

yeah i didnt like the first one
and the second one still had that problem of not being perfectly clear on which ledge you should climb and which one just made you look like a dumbass in front of Elena, but this is a minor flaw in an otherwise great game

I like the shooting, I got 250 headshots on my first run through which is better than most other games I play.

Some of the platforming can be a bit finicky. Jumping, missing, plunging off cliff and all that. Overall it was good, though.

I'd say its almost a perfect example of the sort of game it is, a classic of the genre

I would look at almost everyone else's posts before deciding this. It sounds like you WANT the games to be bad...

The shooting works great, and a single button press "unglues" you from any cover you're pressed against. Sorry, man, I honestly can't see why you're having trouble with it.

Re: Uncharted 1/2 - I too think the shooting is wonky and the platforming is hit-or-miss. Combine these issues with an unbearable protagonist and beyond cliched writing, and you've got a pair of games that don't interest me in the slightest.

Shame, though; those are some damn good-looking games.
