Oblivion. One of my friends was playing it and I thought it looked pretty cool. I read up on it, and decided to purchase.
As much as I wanted to, I just couldn't get into it.
I was also really excited about Fallout 3. I've started it maybe a dozen times but so far haven't managed to play long enough to get past that first town with the bomb in the centre.
Whenever somebody raved about a Bethesda game I just tuned out after that, soured by my Oblivion and Fallout 3 experience. Recently though I was compelled to give Skyrim a go (that and it was also $20) which I love.
