I think I'm psychic?

See, we have dozens of unremembered dreams every night. Most of these are dreams of mundane, frequently done tasks. The Deja Vu you're experiancing is most likely the result of having dreams where you're sitting in class doing something, followed by you sitting in class doing something somewhat similar in real life. Your brain realizes that you've seen something similar to this and tries to figure out what it is. It vaguely remembers the dreams you've had, and either picks one similar to this, or mashes up a bunch, tricks you into thinking that you saw this exact moment before, and makes you think you're psychic.

Happens to a lot of people, which is why Deja Vu is such a common expression.

are you waking up with blood on your clothes? jk.

if you really are psychic you should take advantage of it, you could even prevent someones death if such an event were to occur.

My hypothesis is that when asleep our brains are constantly thinking of hundreds of events, only some of which we actually remember as dreams when we wake up (possibly the most outlandish thoughts, those that make the least sense and grab our attention the most). The rest are forgotten until one of them happens, in which case we remember having thought of the event in a dream.

I seem to have similar results with Scrubs episodes, and always thinking of a particular scene of the episode that shows the next day.

Course I'm no neuroscientist, but hey, it sounds kinda cool.

Another vote for the 'You're probably possessed by a demon' pool.

It's entirely possible you have a variety of precognitive ability. I know I've seen events in my dreams or my mind that ended up happening in such a way that can only be seen as a form of ESP.

This is what is happening:
1. You think you will do something, and therefore you will do it. You may also be misinterpreting the content of your dreams, and changing your remembrance of the dream to what happened that day
2. You're psychic. Congratulations on breaking reality.
Basically this. Sorry to be a killjoy, but as a skeptic I can't even take your word that you have dreams that you think a precognitive. However if you could write these down actively try to forget about them, and then open up your prediction at the end of the day to find out if you were right.

I think what you're referring to is deja vu. The only way to be sure is to write out your dreams in the morning, and see how much of that shit actually happens. Seeing as you have this every day, it shouldn't be a problem for you.

Personally, I smell a troll. In Christianity, those with precognitive powers aren't treated as though they are possessed. They aren't believed for a start, and secondly all of that exorcism stuff is made up by fantasises and Hollywood.

So very happy when I saw this. xD

AQUA TEEN IS NUMBER ONE!

Anywho, I think happens to more or less most people at least once. It happens to me a lot. Of course, I chalk it to Deja Vu.

Here's my take on it:

First of all, you are NOT possessed by anything. that just doesn't happen.
Secondly, I believe in some 'paranormal' things like psychic abilities. I also believe in science, I just believe that science is not yet able to explain some things (and I have seen some things to make me believe in some of what people call supernatural).

If you want to see if you are what people call psychic, see how far you can take it. I, personally, am somewhat empathic, I can 'think myself' into healing a wound faster, and a few other things. I take this as natural (possibly no more than using your brain's reasoning and pattern recognition, or even your body control slightly differently), and something that has just not been properly explained by modern science yet. I don't expect people to believe me here though, it's something you need to experience, and I know it sounds strange.

I get Deja Vu alot throughout the day...even when I'm doing something that I've never done before.
Does that make me psychic?

Then you're a dick.

Bit harsh perhaps, but that hit a nerve - this kind of superstition's dangerous in my view. Maybe overly dogmatic the other way. Meh. Them's the breaks.

Alright Escapists, time to put your possible merit of deduction to use!

For my whole life, I've always had dreams. I know we've all had whimsical dreams, but the dreams I have are incredibly real, no unicorns or Chuck Norris and me team ups to beat Darth Vader and gain access to the golden land of ice cream and sex. They're really real. Okay so here's how it goes:

Before I wake up in the morning I get a sorta "screenshot" of something that will happen later in that day. It's nothing like me tripping or finding a $20 or the winning lotto numbers, just some idle task I'm doing in class.

It's happened everyday of my life and I've only now decided to take this a little more seriously. I'm Christian, and people who are believed to see the future are possibly "possessed" so I just want to know if I'm really precognetic, my brain is performing a series of equations and events based on random data and determining he most likely course of my day like fate, if I'm actually seein Fate, or it's just coincidence.

Again, really need the input please. Thank you
Same happens to me, and even on a recent occurance, there was absolutely no doubt in my mind that it had occured before, and to back that claim, after the first part of it happened, I said aloud the next thing that occured. My friend behind me was like o_O

Well, if it is as mundane as you say it is then your prolly just having dreams about things you know, Ive had my fair share of psychic moments and I don't really see images, I just usually will call an unlikely event. For example my friend was envious of me when I got my test back with a 100, and I was like "well, maybe you'll get one" and he told me he had left an answer blank so he couldn't possibly have gotten one. I was like whatev, you dont know till you get it back. He got a 100. He did leave an answer blank, she marked it blank, there was no extra credit.

I'm going to call bullshit on that. Please elaborate on how these dreams where a form of ESP.

That's hardly a psychic power. I don't know if its actually possible or not (could be, sounds similar to the placebo effect) but your mind affecting your body wouldn't be supernatural. For something to qualify as a "psychic power" you need to be able to perceive or alter the current or future (or even past, I guess) external world using only your mind.
Well, part of my point is that what people generally think of as 'psychic' really may not be all that supernatural. I have seen some things that make me believe in such things as powers that affect the outside world, but it's the sort of thing where you can choose to believe it or not. I just like to say, wherever I can, that it really isn't all that strange.

I don't know if this has been said, I can't be asked to read EVERY reply at this hour.

The phenomenon you are experiencing is classical Déjà Vu, and the cause IS in fact your dreams. I know because I experience it as well. However, you are not seeing the future at all. What is happening is that you are remembering a dream that is nonspecific. For example, you have a dream about walking by a person in a blue coat. What's around you? You don't know, it's all fuzzy and undefined because it's a dream. But if you walk by a guy in a blue coat the next day, your brain "remembers" this situation, then fills in the details with what is around you, so it feels like you've seen this before. Seriously, next time you have a dream, try to remember the details. You probably can't. You may get the main things, like you were writing a Calculus test then Peter Molyneux came in and said you would never get a job, but you will not EVER be able to tell me the color of your socks. It's just because dreams are.. well... dreams. Next time you get this feeling, don't worry, you're not psychic, and you're not "possessed" (I thought people stopped believing in that QUITE a while ago, but I learn something new every day I guess), you're just tripping out a bit because the human mind is really, really odd.

EDIT: On a side note, I just read a few posts concerning ESP. Troll response = Prove it or GTFO. Real response = Seriously guys, you must be either gullible or willfully ignorant to actually think what you're talking about is possible. Go outside and stop trying to violate reality, it doesn't work.

i dont know exactly what it's called but i was told it was some sort of chemical misfire inside your brain that makes you think you saw this before. you're not psychic your brain just made a mistake with your memories
