Yeah, the reason most cultures have youngins respect the older* and youngies know they should listen to adults when they say "stfu, eat your oatmeal", is because when kids are given the power to do what they want, they make really dumb decisions, because they think it's best, because they think it's smart, or because they think it's the lulz.

*Currently there are 2 reasons why more developed countries do not have the very much
1: Most parents these days are old hippies, or influenced by the hippie movement, so there is very little discipline compared to other generations.

2: The internet gives great power, and right now, most of the older people cannot use the internet nearly as accurately as youngins, so they have an advantage over their parents. And if a parent says "STFU, eat your oatmeal!" the kid can go eat their oatmeal, and the complain online to their "friends" and have a bunch of people who don't realize this brat is a brat validate the kid's position that his parents are Nazis.

I hate them. Pissing people off for gags is still pissing people off. Kind of see this type of hacking as a virtual tire slash, or mailbox baseball. You do it for fun, but it's unethical and makes people angry at you.

LulzSec are not funny. At all. They've released peoples' personal information out onto the internet, where people then go and steal accounts, money, etc., from the leaked personal information. It's just as bad as robbing a bank, identity theft, or murdering people.

Anonymous at least has basic morals, like not hacking for personal gain, etc. Watch last week's Extra Credits, it goes in depth on that. They are far better than LulzSec, who just do s*** because it's "funny".

Remember, it's all fun and games until you wind up 10 feet under. Anonymous needs to f*** LulzSec's s*** up and teach them a lesson already.
When you get down to it, both groups are the same. It's all illegal.

Sure is fun watching people get bullied.

That is, until you're the target, then suddenly it's horrible.

Seriously, get some fucking empathy people.

They done noting funny, they just put "lulz" in their name which is associated with humor. Even the examples the OP gave were them just not being completely dickish. Not particularly humorous about security advice and turning down money. I've yet to see any example of things that they have done that I would classify as funny, but plenty of examples were they come off as ass holes.

lulzsec are moronic god-complex manbabies who don't actually have any knowledge about hacking. anyone could have done what they're doing, it's just that they're the first ones stupid enough to think they wouldnt get caught

also "lulz" stopped being funny before it existed

Yeah, because the release of 62,000 emails and passwords along with stealing PSN and Xbox Live info, thus exposing many people to possible identity theft is really fucking hilarious.

If anything, Anon is certainly better than Lulzsec because at least Anon has something resembling a moral compass.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.

just sayin

I believe that this sums up my thoughts on the matter completely.

(In case you can't tell, I don't find it funny.)

They're not complete bastards. I mean, they're not 'Anonymous' for fucks sake.
Hmm. It's funny, cause if you look on /b/ and such places, people are beginning to support Lulzsec because they claim that Anonymous has been taken over by "moralfags," and Lulzsec is what Anon used to be. Meaning that Lulzsec would be the more douchey of the two. And when you look at Current Anonymous vs. Lulzsec, they really are.

I really can't stand when people do this kind of shit just for the sake of it. Congrats, you had a few minutes of fun, and now thousands of people have to sit in fear of further harm coming to them. Again, congrats.

Yeah they seemed alright, until they DDOS'd Riot, Bethseda, and Minecraft on the same day. Taking down basically the three most interesting game companies 'for teh Lulz' demonstrates their leaning towards the 12 year old raging child style of humour, rather than actually going out and demonstrating how crap the security on big companies is.

The sad thing is this gives security companies an excuse to crack down on this s*** and further restrict what freedom on the net, and no one is going to protest because they've just proven themselves to be the clueless morons capable of making an attack on part of their own support base.

EDIT:

So you think it's funny to release 62.000 Xbox users info. It's fun to take down several websites for no apparent reason. Lulsec has lost it. Yeah, maybe it was fun to begin with, but now they are just acting like fucking brats who got nothing better to do than annoying people... for the lulz. Selfish social rejects if you ask me
Anonymous for Sony, lulsac for xbox... the balance is preserved... all is as it should be.

It's gotten to the point where LulzSec are actually just being awful for the sake of being awful. I mean, it's all fun and games until someone loses hundreds of dollars to credit card fraud. Initially I thought they were just hacking to see if they could, but the fact that they're willing to oust people's credit card numbers and PayPal account login info screams to me that this has gone WAY too far.

Funny? Prehaps. Justifiable? Not so much, though I doubt LulzSec care really about if what they are doing is justifiable.

They're just a bunch of hackers gone mad with power. Anarchy isn't really my thing, so I can't say I support them. But until a bunch of stories come out about confirmed identity theft by the members of LulzSec, I wouldn't call them evil or anything.

In a way it's good that they hacked Xbox Live, just to shut the assholes up about Sony being hacked and Xbox being better.

I think, that they are causing no real harm to any of us, and are actually quite funny. They do good deeds too: Such as hacking into the NHS (National Health Service), but then just emailing them to make them aware of the security vulnerabilities they found. Or when they entered a hacking contest, won it, and turned down the $10,000 prize.

They're not complete bastards. I mean, they're not 'Anonymous' for fucks sake.

EDIT: Oh, and it's just kinda funny to see what shit they do.
I'm fairly convinced you're a troll but here we go.

No real harm to any of us? Try tens of thousands of pounds of damages to several companies, putting the companies themselves, their affiliates and possibly millions of jobs at risk. Afterall what's more lulzy than shovelling tons of decent individuals into unemployment.

Next we have the releasing of personal information, again potentially risking the assets of thousands of people. I personally can't think of anything more funny than letting some asshole waltz into someones bank account and fuck up their lives by stealing their money and maybe even committing identity theft, lol.

And for the record, they refused that $10,000 prize because accepting it would have blown their cover, and the work that anonymous do is actually pretty noble compared to these guys.

If Anonymous is being called "moralfags", they have my support. It's neat (although possibly entirely coincidental) that this occurred after the Extra Credits video on Anonymous.

Yea I'm pretty sure the OP is a troll, this is like saying, hey I think those guys who steal peoples credit cards are funny and cause no harm!
