I /WANT/ Mass Effect 3!

So seriously people, why all the hate? Can we not give a game a chance before we've actually played it? Now if ME 3 comes out and is just one big steaming pile of poo, I'll be in the front line of the riot marching on Bioware's HQ with torches and pitchforks calling for blood. All I'm asking is that we wait to play a game before we crucify it.

So it's bad that people hate a game they've never played but it's good that they love a game they've never played.
I see you've had some time to think about this.

To be fair I might not bother with Origins, I mean Mass Effect Origins, I mean Gears of Effect 3, yeah that's the one, because I've lost faith in the series.
The Mass of War Cogs series has been a descending line in terms of my personal preference and now that I need to install another "steam" like program just to play it, I think I'll just tap out and leave you and others like yourself to enjoy Mass of Effect 3 in your own private place and time.

But thanks for sharing your opinion, I'll make a point to do and judge what ever I want when ever I want without your consent or approval.

I should also like to add that I find it rather unsettling that you would turn so easily on something you so readily defend when it fails to meet your expectations.

The key difference between this topic and the hater topics is that the latter would have you believe that this is a terrible game that no one should get, the former explains how - despite all the complaints - I'm still excited and looking forward. You're more than free to pre-emptively judge the game to your heart's content, one of the purposes of this topic was to simply say that just like how you don't care about my consent or approval for your judgements, I (and apparently numerous others) don't care about the things you're complaining about. At it's core, this topic is an editorial. As the first sentence said: I was getting rather sick and tired of every 30 minutes a "omg ME 3 is going to bow goats" topic coming up.

As for the last part of your statement, what can I say? I'm an unsettling person. I'd sincerely have to hope you realized just how much I'm looking forward to this game. And if Bioware answers that hope and anticipation with a firm kick to my balls, I think I and every other Mass Effect nerd out there will have every right to rage. I highly doubt this'll be the case, however, as I'm certain the game is going to kick ass despite what all the complaints say (that's kinda the major point of this topic along with saying I don't care about these nit-picks that people are griping about).

So yeah, go ahead and call it any combination of Gears and Mass Effect that you like. If you've seriously lost faith in Bioware, quit complaining and don't buy the game. It's that simple. I, however, am eagerly looking forward to this game.

I haven't heard about any leaked script. If there is one and it's the actual script, then I'm not going to go hunting for it as I'd rather experience the game than read a script. So yeah, I guess about the only thing I can say to that one is don't go looking for things you don't want to find.

Lol'z, you just quoted a paragraph that already made your point redundant. We love the series and are excited for Mass Effect 3, we never said it's definitely a good game, but I agree with the original post - you can't say a game's terrible until you play it.

Actually a more accurate summary would be 5 paragraphs on why the things people are complaining about aren't nearly such big deals as those complaining would have you believe and 2 on "since these complaints are nothing but mountains made of molehills, I still fully intend to buy the game".

In order for this to make fandom look "desperate" and not "passionate" there would have to be strong evidence that this game is going to suck and thus it would seem more like I was TRYING to want the game and not genuinely wanting it. However again: the point of this topic was to take all the complaints about this game and show how they're really no big deal, as such this topic negates the premise that ME 3 is going to suck, and thus makes the fandom expressed "passionate" rather than "desperate".

Maybe they did experiment with new things(I for one would like them to get away from all the "save the world" bullshit), but that doesn't excuse the fact that the game is a rushed out piece of shit.

EA announces "Tweaks" to the game on 5th May. 5 "game-rending" areas and it's still not come out. Bioware had it ready in May and EA announced it was going to "tweak" it for mass-market appeal. Their words.

Things don't look all that good for it, really, on it's third outing.

No, I don't blame people for making complaints themselves, however as my OP's first sentence said: This is a topic meant to counter all the topics out there that seem to be nothing but "Holy shit! Bioware blew it's nose and didn't wash its hands afterwords! Mass Effect 3 is going to be terrible!!!" The entire point was to take all the complaints - which are valid, as I mention in my OP - and try to show how they really aren't that big of a deal...that people are overreacting in a tsunami of negative hype just because they didn't like DA2.....and apparently they're butchering the storyline in The Old Republic, buuuuut I haven't played that game and I don't intend to, so I can't really comment on that one.

But let me be clear that I am not defending the merits of DA2, I'll be the first to admit that it is full of problems and flaws. As a writer myself, one of a game's major selling points to me is a good story (this is why I still play Portal 2 over and over despite already knowing all the solutions...I LOVE the story and characters presented in the game's narrative), and since I believe that DA2 had a good story I - personally - am able to overlook all the mechanical things that do indeed give that game a rather raw-sewagey aftertaste. However Bioware was experimenting with a new method of telling a story...specifically a zoomed in focus at a single person living their life in a city for a decade. People say that because of this the story itself is unfocused, there's no over-arching plot that ties the whole game together and it's just a piece of crap. Yes, behold another wall of text generated by yours truly. There's some really good stuff on the 2nd page, particularly my five-prong response in post #51. Was the game clearly rushed? Yes. Did dungeon design and combat suffer because of this? Yes. However one of the things that people attack most in DA2 is the story itself with the argument I mentioned above: "it's unfocused, disjointed, doesn't flow, etc" and that's what the linked topic is arguing against, asserting that it does have a focused story that actually flows quite well. Whether or not you actually like the story is a whole different question, but I thought Bioware's attempt at a new narrative style was very intriguing and entertaining.

This arguement doesn't gel much with me... I'm not slamming the whole "Dragon Age 2 was rushed" arguement (apparently it was in the works longer than we think, but that's besides the point), but the fact people use this debate to slam Bioware then slam them again for "taking too long with Mass Effect". We waited roughly two years between the first and second, why is the same amount of time suddenly unacceptable?

Those all sound like you don't like the way EA is running the marketing and promotions which is a perfectly valid viewpoint. Hell, I hate EA as much as anyone, but even with all their "tweaks" and such, I'm still eagerly awaiting March 6th. I will admit that the whole "only on Origin" thing does seem lame, but since I'm a console player that really doesn't effect me so I really can't comment on it.

Still, though, there has been no strong evidence that the game itself is going to be as crappy as all the complaint threads would have you believe.

I've heard a lot of people complaining about Origin. I know nothing about it seeing as how I'm a console gamer, so I really can't say if people are over-reacting due to it being Origin exclusive or not. This is why I don't mention the "I hate Origin" argument in my OP.

Edit: Best I can say is that in that case, you're not really hating against the game itself, you're hating against the system that you're forced to play it on. There were a lot of PS3 exclusive games that I've wanted to play over the years, but I didn't run out and buy a PS3 because quite simply I enjoy the XBox better. So if that's your reason not wanting to buy the game, fair enough I suppose.
