People around here love to talk about being accepting and not judgmental, being open to different things and not stuck in your one little corner. Then you mention a rapper and hypocrisy abounds.

Another thing, people here also love to talk about how professional reviewers are just the opinions of one guy, so they are subjective and shouldn't matter so much. Then Ice T says the BETA is Janky (I don't know what the word means but it makes me think glitchy), and people deride his opinion because he's not a professional video game critic.

Ice-T is so funny.
That's Ice Cube.

Also Ice T did not sing "Ice Ice Baby"

People, if you're going to ridicule someone at least know who they are.
Actually read the thread bro, I corrected myself and made a new picture to compensate for my error.

*offended*
Didn't mean that all people who drink iced tea are aging hippies and pretentious people. Just what comes to mind. :p

I love how there are 6 pages of posts about "Who CARES what Ice T thinks? Who the hell does he think he is?"..

There is irony here, but I just can't put my finger on it..

I like him. He likes LIMBO.

Made GOOD gangsta rap, and is quite a decent actor.

And because he hates Soulja Boy.

How does the fact that Ice T is a rapper mean that he cant offer his opinions on games? C'mon some of you guys are being pretty childish about the fact that a famous person has an opinion on a game, if i made a thread and said exactly what he said, you would take my opinion seriously

Thank you Ice-T for pointing out that a BETA 'sucks'.

Not that I have high hopes for this game. Medal Of Honor took a sharp turn towards the "Walmart $10 Deal!" shelf years ago. To be honest, anybody could see that its one and only goal was to become yet another in what is bound to be a long line of Modern Warfare FPS clones.
Lets face it... we all bitched and complained about how WWII games were being done to death, now we have "modern combat" games being done to death. The industry goes where it thinks the money is, but I predict FPS will be this eras "2D fighter"... oversaturation and the limitations of what can be done with the genre are quickly approaching their maximum. From here on, its just going to be the same play style coupled with increasing level of graphical quality. But how much farther can we really advance a "shooter"? I think "Brink" is trying to push the envelope with its fluid combat system, but until virtual reality pops up, we're going to be seeing a lot of the same.

The other problem for shooters is that other than the "sci fi" angle, which has its own complications, where do shooters go? How do you keep it mixed up and exciting? We've used all of these guns before, if you've been in one helicopter/skyscraper battle you've seen them all, breaching doors is passe', and the you can only keep limiting players by keeping the ammunition for the sniper rifle at an all time low for so long. I have no idea how you can breathe fresh life into an old medium like this. Where do you go for new settings? The World War II area has been done literally to death, the Modern Combat thing is getting old fast, Nobody really wants to touch the middle eastern war stuff just yet and even then it'll just be more Modern Combat game play in the desert, World War I was too boring, Vietnam isn't popular enough, and sci fi is inaccessible to some people because they want to shoot M16's instead of nuclear propulsion ecto-goo silicate weapons at strange looking enemies in metallic corridors. And we've tried the whole "time-traveling" thing to send people back to the past with weaponry of the present. Westerns are too niche to make effective FPS games from...

So we're kinda screwed for now I guess.
Setting isn't as important as gameplay mechanics and controls. Portal had the right idea. While I much prefer 3rd person to 1st, the first person perspective is nothing more than a camera angle that provides an extra sense of immersion and realism, and is not limited to games involving shooting other creatures by pressing the R button.

I have a soft spot for Ice T since he's on my fave cop show (L&O SVU). But, at least he even said he wasn't trying to force his opinion on anyone. He thought it sucked. That's all. We're all entitled to our opinions, even rappers.

He also pointed out that he wasn't just 'hating' on the game. He honestly felt it needed to improve.

If you disagree, move along.

Oh boy, is Ice-T doesn't like it, then what the fuck will we all do?

Seriously, I think very little of anyone's opinions but my own. Usually because everyone around me is a pillock.

It's so easy to criticize other people, the fact is that i admire that he said what he thought instead of getting paid to say what others want him to say...
