You know what I'm talking about. You must. You're watching, or playing, or reading something, having a great time, shit is all good, but then... something happens. And this thing is enough to put you off entirely. The rest of whatever may be great, but this one thing... it does you in.

Myself, I've been trying to get through Neon Genesis Evangelion, and I'm doing well enough, but then comes episode 8 and this fucking character gets introduced.
Jesus fucking christ I hate Asuka so much. Everything about her. I'm up to episode 16 and everything about the show is interesting me, from the characters, to the angels, to the fight scenes and all the development and stuff, but then fucking Asuka comes along and I want to stop watching.

I understand that she's trying to be a tsundere or whatever the shit but my word, could they make her a little less annoying please? Every word that comes out or her mouth makes me want to rip my ears out, not just the voice but the dialogue. She's an uptight flamebaiting little **** that draws the attention away from characters that could be having some interesting development, like, oh I dunno, the main goddamn character?
Seriously, episode 16 and he's had like, 3 conversations with Rei, one of the most "mysterious" characters in the show, because whenever the potential for a chat arises, along comes Asuka! Here to stop anything interesting happening!

Maybe she gets better later. Maybe she doesn't, I don't know. But honestly, I've stopped caring. Because fuck Asuka.

I would get back to playing UMVC3 at some point but i'd have endless ragers to deal with. That and the amount of Swag Teams online is almost 100% at his point. So we have the case of the salty winner who rage messages a win and mashes the taunt button on the win screen because UMVC3 is weird like that. Fuckin' X-Factor man. I have the opinion that it singlehandedly ruined the spirit of the game. It turns a "good game well played, you have bested me in single combat" into "FUCKING X-FACTOR VERGIL NOOB! GET CANCER AND DIE!"

I wish I was kidding.

In other news, Persona 4 Arena has done what I have always dreamed of and not even put a taunt button in the game at all. Thank you. Compare BlazBlue or P4A to UMVC3 and there is a HUGE difference. People are actually NICE in BB. As in give advice after the game nice, not just not sending death threats after the game nice.

I would get back to System Shock 2 but it's too scary I want to see if they patch the way having Hardware Acceleration on cuts all audio. So you have to sacrifice the added HD or what have you to have the game in a playable state.

Oh and I gave up on Clannad Afterstory years and years back. NOPE! THAT FORESHADOWING! NOPE! I'M OUT!

I can attest to this. I haven't played that many online matches, but I did get quite a few "GG" post-game messages in my time.

If I understand it correctly I am pretty sure Asuka's supposed to be a tsundere as possible so that viewers hate her. In fact, I think that just about all the characters were designed to be hated. Anno's nutty.

OT: Inb4 Mass Effect 3 ending.

I want to get back into MMOs, specifically FFXIV: A Realm Reborn when it comes out this summer, but... I have a life. And a full-time job. And responsibilities. And other awful grown-up stuff that always gets in the way of fun.

... Mostly, I want to be able to have the freedom I had when I was younger and FFXI came out, and FFXIV is making me miss all that. I don't miss how stupid I was back then, but I miss the freedom. And the youth. And the energy. Now I feel like an old lady when I get home from work.

I usually only game on weekends now, so I can easily find ways to entertain myself for a couple days a week, but, crap, I had a severe MMO addiction (FFXI and WoW), and got through it a few years ago, but here comes a spiffy new XIV throwing itself in my face and jiggling its naughty bits.

Part of me wants to get back into JRPGs. I used to love them when I was a kid. The long epic stories, the interesting variety of character designs, the combat that usually rewards careful thinking over quick reflexes

...but truth be told, I don't feel that way anymore. I mean I can still play some old JRPGs that I loved from my youth, and as for new ones I still enjoy MegaTen and Pokemon to keep me busy.

But I've come to realize that I just hate a lot of the tropes these games seem to have. The recurring archtypes of characters that I often find more annoying than endearing.

To me the prime example is the game Riviera: The Promised Land. When the GBA version of that came out in English, I loved it. Beat it several times, got all the endings except one.

Then like 2 years later they released the PSP version...and lemme tell you guys, I could barely get through the tutorial. It just felt like every line from every character was this horribly cliched tripe.

It wasn't before long that I really started to notice these recurring trends in other games, past and present, and it really started putting me off of the genre.

Now I'm just scared to pick up new JRPG titles because it seems like every time that I do it just hurts my wallet and makes me even more distrustful of the genre.

I'm considering getting Ni No Kuni once that drops in price more (apparently it's already down to $40)

I'd like to get back to the US, but I'll have the FBI waiting for me.

Did I do that right?

I'd like to get back to Mugen Souls, but I'll have the fact that Compile Heart made it waiting for me.

I get it; an explanation is in order. Abridged version: it has all the makings of a NIS title (great animation, great artwork, funny/interesting/likable characters, fun battle system, a wimsical, silly, and fun story, customization options, interesting game concepts, etc.), but it was sculpted entirely by Compile Heart, meaning lots of panty shots, hot tub scenes and mini-game, ridiculously low frame rate, and is clearly meant for Moe otakus and no one else.

So yeah, there's that.

Also,

I'd like to get back to Patapon, but I'll have a boss that I can't remember how to defeat waiting for me.

Don't get me wrong; Patapon is awesome. It's just when I hit a wall in the guise of a difficult boss, I usually take a few days to cool off and regroup. However, I then bought Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, and for those of you who already know, I still haven't returned to Patapon.

I'd like to get back to any sand box game ever that I abandoned halfway through because I tend to get bored by them. List includes, but not limited to: Fallout: new Vegas, Far Cry 3, GTA IV, Skyrim, Oblivion, Prototype.

I'd like to get back to Hunter X Hunter but it was just getting so ridiculous. I mean, they introduced this magic stuff with no real reason other than to make it so that Gon and Killua weren't the most powerful people ever, and then it just started getting ridiculous when they introduce people who fight with spinning tops and a toy car. I mean, WTF?
Also, Fairy Tail just got boring and I was getting tired of each of the arcs being pretty much exactly the same, just for different characters. Maybe it gets better on, I dunno. I just wish they'd be a bit shorter- 10 episodes in a row of them fighting phantom lord over and over again got really annoying.

Can't stand people that don't try to develop a strategy in certain games. Alright if you are not going to play the game well, then stop wasting my time. Know thats one of the main reasons why I hate versing other people in Pokemon. You know I have about 5 people on a list that I will verse and thats it. oh so obvious in Pokemon when somebody just slapped a crappy team together and now wants to win. Usually no good synergy with the Pokemon, there is no real overall goal. Kind of gave up after I faced a team that had nothing on it but sweepers.(facepalm)

If any of you have read Muv Luv Alternative you will know exactly what I'm going to say, this certain event gave me PTSD I swear, I just had to stop reading I was so shaken up. If you want to know what it is search Muv Luv Chomp in google, be warned not for the faint of heart and heavy spoilers if you ever plan to read the VN.

Is she mayhaps... A suka? *Badum-tish!*

There's plenty of graphics intensive games I'd like to play. But in this heat, I don't want to fry my graphics card. It'll be a long, long time until I can think of replacing that one. Not giving fate more possibilities to knob me over than necessary.

Man, I like most of the cast. I like Misato. I like blonde scientist lady who I can't remember. I like Rei. I even like Shinji! It's just Asuka.

I'd love to get back to New Vegas, but I have to restart the game... again.

Ive lost 2 save files and just can't get motivated enough to play it again, which sucks because I loved it so much.

I want to start playing Pokemon again, but I know I'll never measure up to Joey and his top-percentage Rattata.

I want to re-play Final Fantasy X-2 again. (As if you ignore that it's a Final Fantasy game, it's actually pretty cool.) But I know I'll have endless hours of grinding for every dressphere in the game.

EDIT: So you say you hate Asuka. You'll love what happens to her later then, I know I loved that shit. I NEVER say this about anyone but...she's kind of a ****.

You should finish that arc, the PTSD arc is the best part of MLA. And then you might as well finish it. What's the point of spending so much time wading through the bad if you aren't going to read all of the good?

And that scene doesn't have any of the impact it has if you just google it, context is key.

Don't have anything to add OT.

I've finished it now, I just needed to take a little break after that. I do agree it gets a lot more interesting from there on out. I love MLA.

Same thing happened to me with skyrim. Losing a character you put like 50 hours into is like "welp... guess I should see what that so called real world is up to"
