I'll take merchant with high amounts of stimpaks and ammo. When the protagonist pops up, I'll be loaded.

I'd be the mysterious stranger, conveniently showing up to save your pitiful hide just when it looks like its all over for you... and then dissappearing just as suddenly leaving nothing behind but a few footprints and empty bullets casings.

I would find a settlement and stay there until I die. Or I would be a regulator. Those guys are fucking awesome.

Considering if Fallout "happened" now, we'd all either be dead or living in holes/caves/vaults/shelters.
So.... a corpse?

However, if there is a time shift somewhere and Fallout's events happen prior to my birth, then... I'd probably be a wasteland wanderer, either dead on the side of the "road" due to treachery or not quite being fast enough on the reload. Either that or I'd try to carve out my own evil empire from the ruins, just waiting for a nemesis to appear and thus a battle ensues for the control of said empire, ending with my disappearance and apparent death, only to reappear later on with a "Fallout 3 was just a setback...".
Might as well make drama in an otherwise bleak and boring world.

I think we say we would be plenty of things. I'm guessing I'd be food for the radroachs. Just being realistic.
Or you know, you could be creative and use your imagination and give a viable answer.

"I'm a realist"
"No, you're an annoying douche bag"

I would be a merchant in Rivet City. It's safe there. I would occasionally go out on trading expeditions though.

I'd be Myron. Myron, baby, Myron!
Isn't he dead?
Yeah, I believe it's stated that he ends up getting stabbed by a drug addict in the Den and dies alone in the gutter or something along those lines. I'll just have to remember to stay in New Reno, I guess!
I like to think that Myron was just way too smart for that and faked his own death to avoid drug debts. Or just to change his identity, given that about 90% of the people who have ever met him probably want to kill him by the end of FO2 (well, he wasn't exactly loved beforehand...and then he goes with the Chosen One to defeat the Enclave - that's got to get him some enemies, and I'm sure he annoyed everyone in every town they stopped at on the way).

Ah...one of the only examples I can think of where a 'deliberately annoying' character was actually funny and amusing to take along. It's Myron baby, MYRON!

I even liked it how he was SO crap in combat, being utterly incompetent at every single possible combat role. That, and the fact that they obviously knew what players would be thinking at that point (with a self-knowing nod to the whole metagaming of party selection): 'What? Can't you work it out? I'm, like, the Science guy! Know all, see all, I'm that guy.' He also has an absurdly low maximum inventory weight unless you demand that he stops being such a lazy git and actually start carrying stuff.

In reality, you would choose to be a slaver?

Hrm, okay.. good luck with that. Slavers are the ultimate scum of society, they take over when everything else falls. They are the most ruthless and mechanical people that society has to offer.

I'd probably be a traveling merchant. As it's the most realistic. A traveler at least.
I agree. Only the worst person in the world would ever be a slaver
O.T. I'd be a slaver.
