OK ... so I haven't read the other responses and ... here's my $0.02
Loot is an important part of an RPG. You don't have to carry around things you deem useless. Just chuck em if they don't have a use/value.
New Vegas was not developed by Bathesda Softworks. I won't say Bathesda games are free of bugs but New Vegas was a special case. I'm confident Skyrim will not have many bugs (though it will have some considering how large and open ended the world is).
Skyrim uses a new engine and it looks very good. You can find the E3 2011 walkthroughs. It's no Battlefield 3 but then again ... Battlefield 3 is no Skyrim
I think Skyrim is going to be slightly more combat oriented but you can count on the RPG depth staying intact. Hope this response helps.
