Lets see:
Blastoise>Empoleon>Feraligatr

Charizard>Blaziken>Infernape

Torterra>Venesaur>Sceptile

These are who I think would win. Not biased. My favorites are actually Blastoise, Feraligatr, Blaziken, and Empoleon. Those are all my starters.
*cracks knuckles*
Okay, First we have to deal with the fact that Empoleon beats Blastoise and Feraligatr by the virtue of its learning Grass Knot. Also how it kills Swampert.

And Infernape would beat Charizard into the ground. Its faster than both of them, and use Stone Edge with 4x weakness to screw over Charizard. And Blaziken is just an inferior version of Infernape. Higher base attack stat, but a worse movepool overall. Tough fight, but I'm giving it to Infernape thanks to the higher speed allowing it to get the hits in first.

As for the Grass starters, I completely agree.
I forget some starters. Oops. I don't know the move pools, because I don't own Platinum yet.

And Charizard would win the fire fight because he is part flying, and the others are part fighting.

Again, you are assuming it survives Infernape's Stone Edge...Which it won't. A Rock type attack with high power against a pokemon with a 4x weakness to it? I smell a dead Charizard. It would beat Blaziken, though. Unless the Blaziken is somehow faster or survives and uses its own Stone Edge, which it usually won't be...Movesets are everything...

Its not all about the typing...It about the moves and who goes first in this fight of fire types...Infernape is the fastest starter and would use Stone Edge to OHKO Charizard. Stone Edge does 4x damage and comes from a pokemon with a high attack stat, its doesn't even need the "Same Type Attack Bonus"...This all assumes that Stone Edge hits, with its 80 accuracy. But 4/5 times, Infernape wins.

And I don't even like Infernape...but I have to tell the truth...Sorry first-gen fans...

Well this assumes that Infernape happens to know that move. Which it might not if we were to have a average Charizard and a average Infernape fight and that Charizard doesn't have enough HP to surrive(which I'm not sure if it does or doesn't but since it is a fully evolved pokemon it would be very tough.) In any case if we were to go into that specific detail you would simply have to give a Charizard a quick claw and have it know the move Brave Bird or Aerial Ace in which case the Infernape will die most of the time.

CHARIZARD CAN NOT GET BRAVE BIRD WITHOUT HACKING

It would not survive...Trust me there...Quick Claw only works on occasion, and Aerial Ace would not likely kill OHKO Infernape due to its base power of 60, 90 with STAB, whereas Brave Bird would, but this whole thing assumes Quick Claw takes effect, which is only 20% of the time, so that would be the 1/5 fights that it would win, we could also give it Choice Scarf to boost its speed 1.5 times, but then again, we could do the same to Infernape. Also, if Stone Edge fails to OHKO, which it would not, we could give the Infernape a Choice Band to give it a 1.5 Attack Bonus, meaning the Charizard is guaranteed death.

Aerial Ace would be a better choice, anyways.

As would I. Infernape is just too...unoriginal. Its just a better version of Blaziken. Thats all...Personally, my favorite starters are as follows:

Cyndaquil for Fire.
Piplup for Water.
Turtwig for Grass.

Well like I said, I don't know the new move sets. Give me a break dude.

Its okay...Think of Stone Edge as a more powerful Rock Slide. Base 100 power...its Rock's best attack.

I was never a fan of Rock Slide, mostly because I was more interested in earthquake. Is it a TM or something? It sounds good. I want Platinum.

Stone Edge fucking rocks. Its a TM that you can obtain multiples of. Very slowly obtain the multiples, though. And the Grass starter learns it to tackle his 4x Ice weakness and his flying weakness, too!

Bwahahahahaha!
