Anyway, it would probably reduce the amount of newcomers to the site, but I don't think that those already on the forums would be much affected. To be honest, watching ZP feels like routine rather than something actually exciting, these days.

I basically just come by to shoot the breeze. Any features I regularly visit are bonuses. I'd probably still watch movie bob, miracle of sound and lisa's top 5 as well as the occasional daily drop, unskippable and extra credits. I have gone months without clicking his features in the past, most notably whenever he makes a particularly bad "joke" like the one he made about the Irish in his 'the saboteur' review. His negativity will sometimes give me a laugh but it wears me down and often frustrates when he rates a game poorly just because he doesn't understand a mechanic or doesn't try the multiplayer. I mean honestly, he reviews fighting games, concludes "nobody could ever enjoy them" and never hunkers down to play against a human opponent.
Or the time he bashed a game because he said num pad five and num pad four have no tactile difference. I want you to run your fingers over both of them. Right. Now. So in conclusion many times he says things that would get him wtfpwned if the subject were up for debate but it's not. Also he can't go a single video without using one of the words: "cock", "****", "blowjob" or "shit". Would it kill him to not force penis references into every video? What is the fixation, I could write a hundred reviews and provided the game's protagonist was not a rooster named Richard avoid alluding to genitals for all of them. I can't imagine there's a twelve year old tittering somewhere because he said a naughty boo-boo and if there is, do you really need that guy in your corner?

Yahtzee is what brought me here, but I doubt him leaving would affect me, beyond "There goes another funny guy, bugger". Now, if the LRR crew left and Yahtzee left it's fairly safe to say I'd be gone, too.

Escapist would have dramatically reduced traffic. For all us here that are constant users yeah we add a lot of money to the site through ads but I wonder how much extra traffic the site gets when ZP comes out. Actually whenever the videos of the week are released the site bogs down to horrible levels.
Not sure what they pay ZP to stay here but I expect its competitive money.
Edit: just to add without the influx of new member members constantly refreshing and without the daily traffic the escapist would have a bit of a gap in their revenue stream. They probably would throw more ads our way to make up for it or cut their staff. Niether would be good but I really don't know about the ZP daily traffic. But just look at all the people that came her for ZP from the beginning, myself included.

if this was me in my early escapist days (few months ago) i would have gone, but for the past few months i realized everything on the site is so amazing! i'm positive i wouldn't leave, sure id shed a tear or two for ol' yahtzee but this site is just way too awesome

OT: I'd be kinda bummed. I'd no longer have a new Escapist thing to watch every weekday at lunch, and we'd lose a strong voice in the community. That said, it'd suck hard core but I'd still visit the site a dozen times a day.
Yahtzee was the reason I first came to the Escapist, though I've found enough reasons that I would stay if he left.
Personally, I would miss the old crank, and would probably not frequent the site near as much as I do. But - on a site-wide scale, I am sure not a lot would really change. I can imagine a small percentage come around just for Yahtzee's videos, but most people on here probably would not even notice.
