Have a computer place a bomb in a random place in the Vault and the inhabitants have to defuse it or they all die. And it repeats every year for 200 years.
Create a vault wich holds 200 couples and enough of everything to keep it running for 100-300 years, including a GECK(or two). Also a gymnasium where the inhabitants can train in survival skills (mostly combat), so they can repopulate the world. The non-training and non-policing grade weapons are to be locked away until the vault opens or is compromised(breached).

Make people think the place was haunted by using holgrams and stuff, and leave messages up. Have hidden cameras around too, and we can have a reality tv series!
The vault is filled with people who are all healthy carriers of atleast one disease. The purpose is to create cures and vaccines for every disease we can.
For my vault i would create a cwcville vault where Chris chan would be the overseer and all types of entertainment would have to be created or approved by him and half the population would be normal vault dwellers and the other half would be vault dwellers who were abducted and turned into sonichus and brain washed to support Chris's insane ideals, then i would wait and see how long the vault would take to dissolve into insanity.

Make the experiment interesting, such as putting all atheletes in a vault filled with nothing but food, water, and computers. Imagine their decline from athletes to nerds.

I'd have a Vault with 1,000 residents, sectioned off into four equal-sized populations, then put religious materials from four different world religions (Christianity, Taoism, Islam, and Roman paganism) into each of the four sections. After five years, the locks between the Vault sections would open (but the Vault itself would stay closed.)

Simple. I would have every room fitted with HD TVS and Surround Sound Systems. Then i would make it so the only thing it could do was play Desert Bus. I would have the vault filled with Desert Bus themed foods, beds, clothes and souviniers. Then i would seal it for 5000 years.
A vault that is built exactly like a normal city, with a population of a million people. There is every type of job out in the real world. There will be one man who is tasked with stealthily assassinating one person every week, and living a life as a business man. The residents will be told that they have to figure out who the killer is and hang him by the end of the day. Clues will always lead them to the current wealthiest man in the "city", who is NOT the assassin. The man will be publicly hung, and his executioner is the assassin. This will repeat every week.
The goal is to see how long it would take a society to figure out who amongst their midst is silently killing them off in pairs.
