If you could experience one game for the first time again, which would it be?

Although we can always go back and play games again, there's nothing like the first time when you don't know what's around the corner. So, given the opportunity to go Eternal Sunshine on a game, what would you pick?

For me, it's a simple choice. I downloaded Katawa Shoujo under the impression that I was getting porn. It turns out I wasn't getting porn at all (Well, not primarily), and was promptly subjected to an all out assault on my emotions that left me profoundly shaken, and remains one of the few pieces of media that has caused me to cry in recent years. (One of the only others being The Wind Rises) I want to experience that again, just as it was.

Dragon Age: Origins, because my experience with it left me quite emotional inside, in a good way. The music was so beautiful and the struggles so real that I felt attached to every companion I made on my way through the giddy highs and hellish lows of that world. Earth was better then as well, but no amount of hammers to the temple will bring that back. All you can really do is get drunk.

Kingdom Hearts - I absolutely love the Kingdom Hearts series, and Kingdom Hearts II is my favorite game, but I would absolutely love to go and play the first game. Back when I thought it was just some dumb girls game with Disney characters in it. Fighting Riku for the first time and getting my arse handed to me. Dying constantly during the Colosseum tournaments and the final boss. Visiting the various Disney worlds (including the god forsaken Deep Jungle) and fighting alongside those very Disney characters. Fighting the uniquely designed heartless.

Kingdom Hearts is definitely the game I hold closest to my heart, which is why I was through the roof when they announced 3 for the Xbox One. The more fans around to appreciate the not-that-complex story, design, and just plain fun of these games, the better.

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion

It was my first Elder Scrolls game, and it absolutely blew me away. I instantly felt like a part of the game world, and played it for hours after high school. Stepping outside the sewers for the first time and seeing this entire world open to me was unlike anything else I experienced at that point.

If I may a second choice, Minecraft. The game was full of mystery to me when I started. I had no idea what I was doing, what the point was, and discovering what I could make, craft, and discover along with some calming music sent me into this deep zen-like state. I also met several of my best real life friends through Minecraft so it holds some amazing memories.

YOU WANT ME TO PICK ONE?!

I can't. I have so many.

The Phoenix Wright games, Ghost Trick, Danganronpa, Several RPGs, Spec Ops the Line, Crono Trigger, Etrian Odyssey 3, Undertale, The Magic Circle... These are just the ones off the top of my head not looking at my Steam List.

There are so many games I would love to re-experience with fresh eyes again.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Maybe. Although I've rather lost my appetite for horror games since then so I might not even get through it a second time.

Would like to enjoy Mass Effect 3 again free of the knowledge of, well... you know. My first playthrough of that game remains some of the most fun I've ever had with a game.

Definitely Metroid Prime. The first time I played that game, it was a borderline religious experience. I finished Prime 2 again about a year ago and it fell into the realm of "really fucking good" as opposed to flat out blowing me away. Don't get me wrong. The games have aged VERY well (as first party nintedo games tend to do). But nothing beats that initial "hit" (if you want to use an analogy for less than legal substances).

I have two choices, one based on a game I know i'd love to experience again, and one that may cause me to have a difference experience due to my age and change in how I play games.

1. The Witness. The biggest downfall of puzzle games is that replayability is almost non-existent outside of speedrun categories. While I have other games I spent a little more time on through the first experience, the Witness made a bigger impact on me spread over the 42 hours I put into it. It scratched that puzzle itch I had that hadn't been satisfied since the release of Portal 2. If I could experience it for the first time again, that's another 42 hours of fun almost guaranteed for me.

2. Garry's Mod. I put 1842+ hours into Garrysmod at the time of this post, and I can almost assure that for the first 500-700+ hours Garry's Mod was the only game I was playing. Day after day was Garry's Mod. Tons of different game modes, with each session being different due to playing with different players who switched out constantly. Things got even better when I managed to settle down into a small community with a good Trouble in Terrorist Town server.
The only reason Garry's Mod isn't my first option is because I can't guarantee that my current self would be able to stick to this game for so long like my younger self did 6 or so years ago. Nowadays I can rarely play a game for more than 3-4 hours without needing a short break.

Hmmmm.... That is a tough one. So many games that were a blast on the first go. Guess I can only give one though.

The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Besides being my first open-world game, RPG, and pretty much all other things awesome about that series, it's also the best game in the series. I would love to be a young lad again stepping out of the Imperial Dungeons into the open world again.

They've taken you from the Imperial City's prison, first by carriage, and now by boat...to the east, to Morrowind. Fear not, for I am watchful.

Definatly Morrowind, since my first time with that game was a mess, but a fun mess. The first time experiencing any TES game is magical and something to treasure. (Even in the inferior Oblivion)

Honestly, there are far too many to choose from: Morrowind, Mass Effect 1, Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Persona 4... the list goes on.

Considering I just played through Undertale for the first time a few days ago, I suppose I will go with that. It was just such an incredible journey. I want to play through it again, but know it won't be nearly as special a second time.

Ghost Trick is certainly one... Wow, such a fun game. The story was great. Found myself replaying it and wishing I didn't have muscle memory for a lot of the puzzles (Except one, god damn medicine bottle).

Also gonna throw my hat into the ring of Undertale (As the haters go SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE), cause it was a damn fine experience, and one I wish I could go back and be blown away by all over again. Seeing the true pacifist final boss and ending made me wanna freak out with excitement. So cool~

Maybe Kid Icarus Uprising for an extra one. One of my fave 3DS games, and the first level left me with great impressions

Devil May Cry 3 or Bayonetta. The epitome of the action genre were some of my favorite games to experience.

I would normally say Devil May Cry 1 based on how much I adored that game, but it really has not aged well at all.

Im gonna be that guy and say Dark Souls. It was such an interesting experience playing the first time through; creeping around corners, the rush and anxiety of fighting an unknown foe, and the relief of seeing a bonfire. I dont think I have really experienced a game experience like that one since.

Bioshock.

Just to experience the ride down to Rapture in the bathysphere again without knowing what is coming. Ugh, that game is the best.

"Is it someone new?"

I've never gone into a game blind. Ever. So I can't really experience a game for the first time again, because I've never done it to begin with.

From a current perspective, I would say Pony Island because that game was a trip and then some, despite beating more than once... From a nostalgic perspective, I would say Rayman 3 because it would be after rethinking about Rayman Advance and realizing how mush better Rayman 3 is to play for me personally... However, from an overall perspective, I would definitely say Tales of Symphonia for the GameCube, specifically, because that would be the most emotional re-experiences from more than just a gaming perspective ranging from the personal perspective to the mature perspective that inadvertently lead me to Persona 3 and its "expansion" FES...

Other than that, Persona 3 FES would be a close second only to be tied with Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories for the Gameboy Advance...

It's hard to ever answer this question with anything other than my favourite game. So Final Fantasy VIII it is, i'd love to erase my memory of it and experience it for the first time again.

Pretty much sums up my feelings too. DAO was so good when I first played it that I went through it six times in row, trying all the Origins, romances, and endings; couldn't get enough of it. While Bioware has consistently let me down since with the sequels, DAO remains my favourite game ever.
