So you're essentially asking me if I'd like to be a murderer? Well, no.

Can you imagine Kim-Jong-II dying because icicles formed in his ass?
Because I can.
And would.

But I would still feel guilty as hell and not use it after that Unless important things depended on it.

As much as I'd like to use it on some people, I don't think I would like nothingness after death. As such, I'd burn it.

I would just use it......vigorously, even trade half my life for the shinigami eyes.

If I've got the tools, I may as well go to work with them.
THIS. Oh dear lord this. ^^ Maybe we can start fixing the government with it. And have a lot less stupid idiots in this world.

Keeping but not using, if only so that nobody else can use it.
Actually, might use it on Gaddaffi. Screw being unable to go to either heaven or hell, I might get to meet L, and I'm willing to burn forever to get rid of someone like him.
(Can it be destroyed without consequence? Haven't watched it for a while.)

Hey what?! I don't know what I did to you man. But whatever it is, I'll just say I'm sorry. Please, don't kill me.
Take a closer look at the link.

As for me, I'd probably be in a bad mood one day and start killing off dictators, having them commit suicide after sending all their money to their people. And then I'd probably start controlling politics as much as I could, have people deliver speeches, or write stuff down, before being killed in accidents or suicides. I'd kill off criminals, and heads of corporations to make use of their resources. And by then I'd be mad and have a god complex and kill off celebrities too, most likely. Always specify cause of death, always natural or self-inflicted (or getting killed by another target), possibly start a cult movement with politicians/celebrities/corporate heads with dying wishes to explain the whole thing with introducing new policy right before dying.

And no, there'd be no magical detective tracking me down. Sorry. I'd die just as soon as normal, and considering I'd be likely to advance research and my own position quite a bit, I expect I'd live a very, very long time. Maybe even get my moon colony. I'm quite fond of that idea.

This is of course with the rules given in this thread. If other rules also apply, I'd find them out first.

I'd keep it but I'd only use it when the world itself is at stake. Think about what would have happened if someone had this for Hitler =)

I'd also probably use it on rapist's or pedo's who get off skot-free when I know for a 100% certainty they were guilty.

I was just thinking the same thing. I would see to it that Fred and Shirley died in a very "God did it" kind of way. On second thought, that doesn't feel justified. They are only expressing free speech, and indoctrinating only a tiny community's worth of children (as much as I feel it's child abuse) is not worth an untried death sentence.

I would, however, use the Deathnote on the more dangerous and devastating people. The heads of al Qaeda, for instance. Or maybe a terribly corrupt politician...no, I don't mean someone who accepts bribes or rigs voting stations. I mean rulers who kill or abuse their own citizens.

"And down goes the entire Westboro Baptist Church and the Phelps family, all of them suddenly hit bya heart attack."
Oh, and Gaddafi's next.

Like Light did, probably, except he got too deluded and personal with it. Strike down criminals exclusively.

As I am currently? I would start copying the phone book. Getting dumped does weird things to a man.

I'd do what Light does in the anime/manga except that I wouldn't be an idiot, and when I think the police are onto me I'd stop using it completely, hide it where they can't find it, and protest innocence. No evidence of how I did it means no conviction, and then I can carry on when the heat is off. No need for any stupid mindgames with L or whatever, even if it does provide entertainment. There was simply no need for any of that, but Light had to show off his apparent mental prowess which led to his own downfall...

Say I didn't know the name of the person I want to kill. If I write the name of someone I do know, like "Joe Blogs dies at x-o'clock as a result of a gas leak", knowing that he will be in the same room as my nemesis at that time (they're having a meeting, for example), would I circumvent the rules?

But yeah, if I had one, it would essentially be the apocalypse.

Edit: and I've just discovered another reason not to get facebook!

Edit 2: come on, it would be genuinely impossible to get caught. You wouldn't even need to be clever about it. The only reason L suspected Light to begin with was because they knew the murderer had to have access to classified files somehow. They'd never be able to trace indiscriminate murder. Besides, they're far more likely to start searching for an undiscovered disease rather than murder suspects. That entire anime was nonsense.

Not in a million years, first of all I'm not nearly clever enough to get away with it for any amount of time, secondly I don't think any crime deserves the death penalty. I would still keep it for emergencies, but I wouldn't use it except in hostage situations or something of the like.
