The day that yahtzee fears would finally arrive, where virtual sex replaces real sex and the human race is gone within one generation.

Who cares? Humanity sucks, and VR sex is awesome.

I think only the generation of cool people is gone within one generation, leaving behind a mass of religious opposed and people who couldn't afford spending the rest of their firtile lives in the virtual arms of pleasure.

We'll all download into ANA in the end. Que another Peter F Hamilton reference.

I'd probably start by running some crazy "what-if" scenarios, like "what if I were president?", or "what if I ran the biggest corporation in the world?", or "what if I were an intelligent super potato?" Wait, that last one is just plain silly.

Barring that, I'd probably just make a D&D like fantasy world and explore. Or recreate some of my favorite games and play around in those.

I would re-create the stargate universe. Place myself in SG1 and go off and explore.

I would also recreate my D&D campaigns, and pretty much any video game I felt like playing.

Of Course my Holodeck would be equipped with a replicator to manufacture food for me.

OK to start with i would use it to learn EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD (even if it had to be .rar or .jpeg compressed to fit there). Then i would play a nonlinear game of Half Life 2, as Gordon Freeman, Then do it again, as a Hunter. Then i would make Master Cheif and Gordon fight each other and sit back to watch the show. Then i would watch an epic war scene between Covenant and Combine, and nuke the USA.

Then i would make my girlfreind (don't currently have one) come with me to some imaginary world for a few days.

I would also like to play portal =D

OHHH and i got just the idea! Lets play Garrys Mod!!!

Id make a clone of myself......and then give him a holodeck, just to see what he'd make.
That way I wouldn't personally have to decide something from the infinite possibilities....

Although thinking about it perhaps my clone would do the same thing I just did, but then at least it's the holodeck making itself repeat endlessly inwards, and not myself directly!!

I just wonder if at some stage a clone of me would do something different......then I think my mind would blow!
Now there's an interesting thought, watching the mind's of a billion or so versions of myself explode ¦:]

All this talk of a holodeck reminds me of a book on lucid dreaming I once read....

I'd use it for training. oh, and I'd put myelf in a book, acting it through as one of the characters, but then i'd probably just walk up to the bad guy in the first frame and shoot him. then I'd play mirror with a holoclone of myself, just to see it keep up.
... all this mention of sex gives me an idea, I'd bring in my girlfriend, then make a holoclone of her, and see which is more fun...

You know, once someone actually creates a holodeck, another Jack Tompson will materialize when some plucky young space cadet goes nuts with a phazor at the Starship Academy.

Which begs the question, ain't a holodeck nothing more than a very expensive lucid dream? And if, like with lucid dreams, you usually forget what you did shortly after coming out of it then what's the point?

Wonder if a holodeck shooter would ve realistic enough to leave you with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Perhaps that PSD would only show up whenever you are in the holodeck.
HoloPSD!

Also I remember this book focused on remembering your dreams, write em down when you wake up or when you recall something, then the better you remember them the more lucid they become.

Which begs me to wonder if a holodeck would become moreso the more you used it. Perhaps all the bad side effects that occurred in star trek were just results of the initial user having unresolved issues going on in their thoughts?

I'd upload Oblivion to it, and then...

Have a picnic. Go hiking in the mountains. Paint the landscape. Swim in the lake. Go horse-riding. Take photos of the Ayleid ruins. More than once have I looked around at a place in Oblivion and thought, 'Man, I wish I was there.' There's a nice little hill, for example, halfway to Hackdirt from Chorrol which looks like the perfect place to lay out a blanket and eat some sandwiches.

Do everything ever except my homework. Then see what happens if I make a square that's inner angles don't add up to 360.

I would sit outside and read a good book. I would rather imagine a fake world then have one feed into my brain.
