Actually your suggestion does sounds pretty cool, although by the time holodecks are reality a mech will probably £59.99 all good retailers.
Being able to accurately simulate any trail, anywhere in the world. Still not a substitute for actually going places and riding them, but it would make training so much cooler.

I think I'd play out my favourite games and then move onto training myself in VR (assuming it's the type you can actually walk around in) for things like combat and similar.

I like realism, and thinking I might actually survive in a war after a lot of practice from the VR would be awesome.

Playing through all my favorite video games in VR, definately. Also, Ironman suit. Also, the godzilla thing someone said already, only with the military, cause it is no fun to smash stuff with out having something to fight.

All this talk of a holodeck reminds me of a book on lucid dreaming I once read....

Which begs the question, ain't a holodeck nothing more than a very expensive lucid dream? And if, like with lucid dreams, you usually forget what you did shortly after coming out of it then what's the point?

Wonder if a holodeck shooter would ve realistic enough to leave you with post-traumatic stress disorder.

On if you turn the safety protocals off. Then it's real.

I would make a chat room that was linked directly to the internet then I would create holopeople who would say what was typed on a certant thread (like this one) so I could have a more fluid conversation and do other stuff like play holo video games at the same time.

Oh and I would do that thing where people wave their hand and a holo touch screen appears in front of them. That is so cool!
