I'd go back to the time of school... do all my homework and give it to my past self along with the answers to the tests I took... Then maybe I would have gotten into University.

Go half a second in to the past. Jump out of the machine and grab on to the side of the previous machine, assuming I survive the travel I will have made an infinite man machine.
I would give the Time Machine to someone I really don't like so I would never see them again.

12-13-2012. I'll take a guy friend with me. If the Mayans were right we'll be the only people left on earth and be able to rebuild it the way we want, hence saving humanity. And if the Mayans aren't right, I would come forward as being from the future and make a bunch of money since, y'know, I have a time machine.

but yeah, i still say 2012 is right, sell it. only tamper with it first so that no matter what they set it to, it sends them 5000 years into the past and (assuming its a time machine with a spatial transfer ability) 5 feet away from the sun
