I think the MLP show got me ill, probably an allergic reaction. Thanks all, that was real fun. Not. -_-;

Yeah, what were we thinking? I mean we're taking up valuable space for all the threads about gay brothers, Sesame Street, Favorite Animal, Zombie Survival Rules, and Slender Man. Because we all know how relevant they are to gaming.
Hey, don't forget the 'Ask the...' or the 'Recommend me a...' those threads need lots of room to breathe. LOTs.

I dont care that ppl like the show but can you please STOP making threads about a children's show on a fucking GAMING site!
Oh, do pardon us from spoiling your Games site, we just really like the show. But it would be handy if we did have a forum to Discuss, oh, I don't know, Music, movies, drink recipes and other non-game talk.

If only the Escapist would provide us with something like an Off-Topic Discussion forum. That would be swell.

... wait a minute...

You again? It's rude to ignore lengthy responses to questions that you ask you know. I'm still waiting on a response or a thank you.

Well written, OP. I think I've read a post or two on some of these kinds of threads that said things similar to that, but it's good to actually get a topic that can sum it up without wading through posts.

And whoever keeps saying that the ponies are "being forced upon them", I think it'd really help to stay out of pony threads if you don't want to dicuss it (staying away from threads with MLP in the title is a great way to stay away from the subject matter). That and, if you disagree that we're keeping to our own respective threads, and think we're going in other threads and hijacking them, then find me a thread that was derailed by pony spam. Because I certainly haven't seen one.

Why do I even click on these threads.... It doesn't matter how well you articulate your reasons for liking my little pony I am never going to see the appeal. If you want to watch it, more power to you.

Seriously, that's cool. Most of our articulated responses are to people who ask 'Why do you like this?' If you don't want to watch it that's your thing and, because we're nice, here's a cookie for your trouble.

Why do I even click on these threads...
I'll be honest, I'm curious about that as well.

That's fine. People just seem confused about the whole phenomenon so I figured I'd promote some understanding.

I dont understand this thread, ponies, cartoons or any of the associated gubbins. All I remember was it was a cartoon my sister watched circa 1987

Well, first off, we're not talking about that cartoon, but one from 2010. If you're legitimately interested, the first post in this thread pretty much summed it all up.

Impressions of first episode

"This is stupid" 5 minutes

"This is still stupid" 10 minutes

"This is out of proportions stupid, but i'm beginning to like the main character" 15 minutes in

"Ok, I may have giggled nervously a little bit, but it's still stupid" 20 minutes

"Wonder what episode 2 is like" end of episode 1.

Truthfully, I made a transformation into Bronydom when I never thought possible, and one of my newest pleasures is telling my best friend that I am watching MLP instead of WoWing like he is. My arguement against him though is that he likes acting like a Black Labrador (i.e. he will randomly fall on the ground because it would seem like a good idea and laugh about it, very annoying).

EDIT: Also another fact: Psychologically this show acts as a 'Confidence Booster'. People who feel secure enough to watch the show and feel secure enough to tell people they watch it obviously have the balls to move through society, and also proves that in a sense they have an open mind. And in my opinion, Open-Minds are good, m'kay.

Jesus, I made a thread about space hoping to get this off people's minds. Really, this is just getting obnoxious now. I've watched one or two episodes of it and I don't want to watch any more. If any of you like it thats fine, I respect your tastes. Just stop posting these threads please.

Again, this is the FIRST thread posted by a brony. The others were either by haters or paople who wanted to know what the fuss is about. This is just a reaction.

This is not a WACH DIS UWILL LUV thread. It's just a response to the numerous threads people were making that were all various shades of "Why is this show so popular?"

Morbid curiosity I suppose. I do want to understand it, I'm not "coming here to hate", I just really cannot see the appeal and doubt I ever will.

Frankly the whole phenomenon amuses me as I hear of all these mature aged individuals speaking passionately about something my best friends daughter and her friends love.

Seems like something the girls liked while growing up that the guys didn't bother with as it was 'girly', and now they're older without that bias they feel like they've missed out.

Perhaps I'm too old to get the joke.

This thread was posted to stop all the other threads that keep popping up. Don't worry we're working towards the same goal.

I'd have to agree with this. Most shows have femininity sprinkled through it at one point or another, sometimes all characterized into one character, sometimes spread more evenly. This is what is considered "normal".

But MLP hits you with a thundering right hook of girlyness that makes your confidence in your masculinity a very important factor. I'll keep with the boxing example; if a person steps into the MLP masculinity ring with shaky knees and unconfidence, they're going to get absolutely KO'd by the inevitable punch that comes their way. But if the person comes into the ring confident, they're probably going to take less of a net blow from that punch, and while still jarring, they'r going to take the punch and continue the match. And considering the opponent, MLP, only has one big punch in the chamber, it's not too difficult to win the fight after you resist that. So to speak.
Not my best metaphor, but it works.

Yeah, you're right. But on the other hand, your thread only addresses bronies, therefore it can't be blamed for forcing the show onto others.

So, I rephrase: This is the SECOND pony-thread mad by an actual brony. Still not enough to call it obnoxious, IMHO.
