I was just curious as to your thoughts on this? I don't doubt the legitimacy of this review, because I know Uncharted is certainly a series that can pull a score like that off. And IGN has even said 10/10 does not mean a perfect game to them, it means a game as close to perfection as games get.
I take reviewer scores with a grain of salt, but a 10/10 has got to mean a game is at least worth looking at right? Well, I was planning on picking this up soon anyway. Let me know what you all think.
And the thing to discuss here is...what?
A review is just the opinion of one person. The relevancy of that opinion is entirely dependant on what EACH PERSON thinks of EACH CRITIC! People should chose who are critics who match their taste and ideals in games and follow their opinion as something relevant.
My problem with review "scores" is they aren't personal. Not that they are useless, but they tend to be far more a reflection of what one thinks a universal or objective analysis of the game should be, rather than their own tastes. For example, I may give FIFA 2012 a 10/10 score as it really is one of the best soccer sims out now, but personally I'd rather dig a ditch than have to play a sports game.
Ideally 'a game is a game' and any critic worth their salt should be able to say if it is good or not, and that is true. But you won't be able to tell if something is GREAT if what the game is TRYING to be is actually what you want from a game.
(PS: I won't have much respect for any site that breaks down review scores into such rigid categories as 'Presentation' 'Graphic' 'Sound' and 'Story' as if they were all always equal, and yet no markings for such vital elements as 'Pacing' 'Immersion' 'Relevance' or 'Originality')
