I save my bullets in Metal Gear Solid 4, I would rather use my electric knife. But unless the situation really calls for a gun I would first go to my tranq, unless it's a damn gekko..

Here's the TV Trope:

But I've recently started fixing this for myself, in a way. I assume the developers are not complete idiots who would drop you in front of a huge boss without a weapon capable of defeating it, so I'll throw anything in front of me that I think is awesome, especially if the rare ammo is appearing in some regularity (and especially if I'm full on it) I'm proud of myself for finishing Doom 3 without ever reaching full BFG ammo.

I've done that plenty of times, I do that with grenades in RE4, I'll have a few and think, I should hold on to these, otherwise I won't have them when I need them later, and then later I don't really need them

That's the problem with ammos and those super guns or special things, you don't want to use them because then you'll lose them...

Oh man that game was so bad for this, namely because losing a character means he dies, for the rest of the game. So if you're in a tough place, it's either weapon or character and sometimes losing a rare weapon is so Q____Q.

I never used a single nuke in fallout 3, even on the behemoths. I always wanted to but I always thought there would be a harder opponent.

In hindsight, what could be more difficult than a massive enemy like that?

Bullets... they don't affect me.

I can honestly say that i have never used the fat man in fallout 3. I usually just grab all the mini nukes i can, sell them to shops, and buy as many 7.62 bullets i can. The nukes proly woulda come in handy on the 2 behemoths ive run into, but i had more fun using the chinese assault rifle on them. The only time i use mines or nades is when i have low health and am facing an enemy that charges (crazy chinese general in op Anchorage, for example).

I have yet to lose a character in the games, mainly because I NEED t have all of them, always, so whenever one dies, I restart the level. I did lose a few guys in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, but that game sucked so I'm not counting it.

I do it in every game. I saved every single mega phoenix, mega elixir, Al Bhed potion (I was reluctant to use those even after maxing out at 99) and a lot of the items you use for customizing weapons in FFX "just in case". Even in the final boss battles, or fighting the hardest sidequests... I don't use them.

I do it in shooter games too, using only the basic weapon, and saving the stronger ones for later.
