No, I won't try to convince you. You're an adult, stop acting like you need people to tell you what you want.

I've got a 360 and a PS3, and I've got duplicate games for both (Black Ops and Battlefield BC 2) Graphically, PS3 has a somewhat finer edge in my opinion, blue ray player option is nice, but...when I got mine it wasn't HD out of the box, and that pissed me off (I was wondering why the games looked like Xbox games), but with an HD cable it is on par with the out of box 360 cable.

Just for the Blue Ray player capability and the free PSN service (Yes...yes...once it's back up) it's a decent value at $150, I don't know about 300 pounds though. That's a little bit beyond steep in my book. Try for a used one.

As the Subject states, I'm considering getting a PS3, on top of my Xbox 360s, and my Wii. The entirety of me purchasing this console would merely be for the exclusives, and the Digital Downloadable classics, and very little to do with the PSN otherwise.
So, convince me in either direction.
You have two of the consoles so why not make it a third. Why should I convince you to buy something, when you gave yourself a good reasons to buy it already. This thread seems rather pointless. I own all three plus a PC so no indecision for me.

Playstation has excellent exclusives, which makes me mad since i have 360. It would be nice to have both. Graphics wise, unless you have eyes as good as supermans, you can't tell the difference. People only 'think' there is a difference because they are told there is one. It is blue ray, thus it can hold twenty times more information than a DVD. Hardware wise, PS3 is impressive, but with their latest mistake and with psn down, I would say that some people may not trust them as much as they have in the past, but thankfully Sony may treat its consumers nicer.

So if you have a low salery, I would say PS3 over all is the cheapest and greatest route. If you have a medium to greater salery, then get both of the major consoles and you would be pretty much set. Wii doesn't count as a console, its a childrens toy. It rattles :p

Why?

Why should I tell you to go get a ps3? You gave your very own reason for it and I do beileve it's a good reason.

Seriously, why is it that people on the Internet always have to be flippant? "I'm considering getting a PS3, convince me." Is that any way for a recommendation?

Blu Ray player and disc. The disks hold more than DVDs, so, for example, in ME2 you don't have to switch discs even though the graphics are improved and it has ALL the DLC.

In terms of games-
Gran Turismo 5
God of War Collection/3
Twisted Metal
Sly Cooper Collection
Demon Souls/Dark Souls
Uncharted 1,2, and 3
Killzone 2 and 3
Resistance 2 and 3
Little Big Planet 1 and 2
Mod Nation Racers
Ratchet and Clank
Ico/Shadow of the Colossus Collection
The Last Guardian

Thats all I can come up with off the top of my head.

-Free online thats not really any different quality wise
-BlueTooth compatibility

your poor timing aside,

its a blu ray player.
when PSN is up the shop has some good games in there.
I'd bring up the 'exclusives' but to be honest, most i wouldn't but they're are some bright spots

Folk Lore:: a fun game that came out around the PS3 launch, kinda arty and mostly story driven, and the game play is fun enough you won't really mind the few minor issues its got

Demon's Souls:: a tentative recommendation really, you have to really like games that will brutalize you right out of the gate, you are going to die, allot, and it doesn't get any easier, its dark and atmospheric and one of the most 'lonely' games I've played (can't really explain that, but it is)

Brutal Legend:: honestly, it made me laugh, only reason I'm throwing it up here

inFAMOUS:: good little 'what would you do' game, with lightning powers, (side note:: btw, how you handle the minor badguys effects your good/evil meter to not just the major choices)

sure they're are others, but stuff like uncharted and kill zone don't interest me at all

I would also like to point out that PS3 games are region-free, so if you should ever want/need to import, you can.

This applies to the PSN as well, as you can make accounts for each region and buy point cards to fund them.
another fine reason ... >.> ... that i wasn't aware of, thank you :D

one OTHER reason, HD is easily replaceable, small hatch on the side, 3 screws, an its out and it uses a laptops HD, so if you need something bigger, you can have, say a terabyte of HD space, unlike the 360s, which costs way more for less compared to the exchange you can do on the PS3

>.> all i got

So, after consideration wit the comments posted, I have decided to go with it (I also found a console on eBay for under $100, we shall see what comes of it.)
I'd like to thank a few people in specific for helping me reach this decision, mostly mjc0961, but also brinvixen and loc978.
Again, thank you for your comments all.
Don't know if you bought it yet or someone else told you, but don't buy refurbished old PS3s. They're known to brick again really quickly. I suggest if you must get a fatty PS3(for backwards compatibility), get a new model. Otherwise, the slim should be fine.

The PSN is free, there are a lot of great exclusives such as Uncharted, inFamous and Killzone, and there's a lot of power in that unfeeling black monolith that means it'll probably last into the next console generation (even when Microsoft has to roll out the Ybox 720 or whatever it'll be called).

The games. The Halo series are the only Xbox games I can think of that I would buy the console for, and it's available on PC anyway. PS# has many more exclusive games.

Playstation has some excellent exclusives, most of which have already been stated here. But one that I think is often overlooked, and one that you might not be playing because you said that online gaming on the PSN wasn't really your goal, would be MAG.

If you enjoy a shooter that rewards you for your efforts and is focused on teamwork and large-scope gameplay, then you'll really like MAG. It's not as easy to pick-up-and-play as a game like Call of Duty, but it makes up for that by being challenging, and by translating a single-player experience into a huge multi-player arena.

Instead of playing a single-player with hundreds of AI opponents, all of those opponents are real people, and they react very differently than the AI. You can trick them, sometimes you can hide from them, and you can sneak up. There's tons of possibilities that I could go on all day about.

Playstation just offers some very unique experiences, and they keep on attracting pretty awesome developers. Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, Zipper Interactive, Guerrilla Games, Media Molecule, Atlus, Insomniac, Team Ico, Quantic Dream... All amazing developers in the Playstation stable, and that doesn't even count Sony's in-house stuff like God of War.

To just hold on to the XBox out of fan-dom is to miss out on some truly awesome gaming experiences out of ignorance. I bought my 360 for Halo, Mass Effect, and Gears, and that's about it. I really wish Microsoft would put some effort into keeping their exclusive studios, instead of just chasing them away or shutting them down. (Think about Ensemble - They got chased to Activision, of all places!)

So there you go - My reasoning for grabbing hold to Playstation's rising star.
