Bought one game which didn't seem to load, so I went to trade it in, having to give a bit extra money to turn in (pretty iffy store). When I got back, it didn't work! I thought it was the worst luck ever, so I got a third game and said if it didn't work then nevermind! So, another game later and another extra bunch of money, I sat there trying to get it to work.

IT DIDN'T! I actually started crying until my friend fiddled a bit with the TV and realized that we didn't have the console set up properly and we got it to work. So... I enjoyed that third game which was nowhere near what I wanted, but damn it if I was going to go trade it in again. Please don't ask what we did wrong, because to this day I've never seen it happen again.

Edit: The third game was Worms, which actually was a lot of fun.
Oh dear lord. This had me smirking quite a bit. ;)

My latest one- I bought Okage Shadow King today for PS2, and was ridiculously happy. I've been looking for it for ages, and just now found it. When I got home I remembered something important- I have no PS2.
I did something similar. I was looking for the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Mega Drive. Bought something that looked like it off tradera.se (now owned by ebay), but it turned out to be for some other console. I didn't examine it until months after I got it though, (a few days ago) so it was a rather tragicomical moment. That's what happens when you shop on a spur. x)

Okay, just so its clear.
There appears to be a few people confused as to what the topic is on, judging from PMs and posts. Thought it was pretty clear from the first sentence, but oh well.

This topic is a contrast to the "stupid guy over there" threads, in that you're confessing to stupid things you've done yourself. You're admitting your own stupidity. I found no thread similar to this, and decided create it.

Now that this is (HOPEFULLY) cleared up, lets get back to admitting what morons we are.

I have accedentally deleted my friend's FFVII game (Which she was almost done on.) while trying to load my own. I spazzed so much that I then deleted mine.

Um, I was eating icecream once whiile playin Zelda: Occeraina of Time and while the owl was talking I got the shivers and skipped his whole speach. I had no idea where to go or what to do. I had to go to the library to use the internet to find a walkthough.

on the topic of the forum i spend weeks getting a character on an mmo to be a badass. two days after i accedentaly deleted him when i was making a new character.

Went to blockbuster to rent a game i had waited a while for went to the ps2 section grabbed my game left and was extatic and then realised i had either picked up the xbox version or the clerk had, they then charged me a late fee on this game...........

I'd gotten all the way to the very last mission on San Andreas, even made the effort to retake all the gang territories when you're back home and the whole game had taken me many, many days to get through. I paused it to take a break and somehow like an utter idiot I managed to kick the PS2 over, COMPLETELY messing up the disc which then just came up with Read Error when I tried taking it out and putting it back in.

You know that feeling of dread you get when you know you've fucked up something and suddenly go cold all over? Yeah, that's how I felt in that second, and even more stupidly it wouldn't have happened if I'd laid the PS2 down and not had it end-on in the first place *facepalm

Right, when did you buy it? My point was that none of the new Playstation 3's are backwards compatible. I'm not sure of the timing, but I think they started making the 80g package before they stopped doing backwards compatibility, or they've had an update since then.

Don't feel bad, Urbain Le Verrier and Clyde Tombaugh did too.

1.) I bought a Sega Genesis Nomad. Enough said.
2.) I got my head stuck in the library's Book Return slot.
3.) I bought two copies of Battlefield 2 without realizing that my computer couldn't run it.

I just upgraded to the 120 gears 2 themed Zune. I hated the Ipod. If anything, I'd buy a Sansa over an Ipod
Well bully for you champ, but I have a first edition Zune that's all fucking broken right now and Microsoft won't fix it for free and I have no money for repairs or a new one so I'm stuck with a comically oversized, brick-shaped mp3 player with no "play" button until hell freezes over.

Perhaps I am truly the dumbest man on Earth for breaking my cardinal rule of "never buy a first edition tech gadget"...

I bought Red versus Blue Season 3, instead of just buying the entire Red versus Blue boxset because I already own Season 2.

I accidentally saved over my nearly-finished San Andreas data with fresh San Andreas data

I corrupted my San Andreas data once, and didn't have a recent backup file.
