hnnnnn....yea a few times back when I was still catering salad and ranch dressing to overweight southern Georgians with a slew of incredibly irritating managers at just slightly over minimum wage.

Hell I went through having five or so trainees under me before I finally decided to quit that job, which speaks loads about how enjoyable of a job it is...

Yeah, and I have felt a wee bit guilty sometimes and not at all some other times. I just deeply, intensly deteste my job. I really have to leave this mess behind me and get back to school.

I'm the same way. Missing work is something that's mind boggling to me. I've been to work the day after I broke an elbow, the morning after I spent all night in a hospital, and when I got the flu (the bad kind aka the little piggy one). I probably should have been at home when I had the h1n1 for everyone else's sake, but everyone came out unscathed. I help set the bar at my work and it's pretty frowned upon to call out.

I do, I feel I have one of the best jobs in the world. I bartend at a busy bar and it's like going out every time I work. With long hours and a smallish staff, I believe that calling out would be a let down to everyone else. A couple other employees and myself serve as examples and other co-workers think twice about calling out. Makes for a good work environment.

Yes, I have called in sick when I really wasn't sick. And no, I didn't feel guilty. I did that several times after I was stuck as the only cart pusher on the lot of a super center/store (a very big, very busy lot) for five to six hours with almost no help from inside (and having to push back breaks and lunch). So my work owed me an extra day off.

I haven't called out when I have been able to work. It just isn't my style. I have on the other hand called out when I've been to injured to work, but not injured enough to be bedridden. That usually makes me very restless and I get some angst.

Did it alot in high school, and maybe a few times in university as well. Maybe felt guilty about it a few times, but usually I was skipping out on classdays that I knew without a doubt would be a boring waste of my time. x_x

Yes, I called in sick at a previous job while I just didn't feel like working.
About 90 minutes later there was someone from a job inspection agency at my door to check if I was really ill, and after a little talk he sent me to a docter who told me to stay home for a month and he would write my boss a note that he shouldn't contact me for at least 2 weeks to give me time to find some mental stability.
No, I didn't feel guilty, and after that month at home, I managed to work there for 6 more weeks before I resigned and found a much nicer place to work.
