I could live with that. I mean I could live the loss of those things, that is.
Is there something you couldn't live without? :)
Sure there is, but the Escapist and the Internet in general aren't among the things I can't live without. ...not that I'm agreeing that the Internet needs to be destroyed that is. Destroying it won't solve the problem.

Wait, what? How could an new release in an obscure as hell, super-hard JRPG series for portable consoles be ruining the industry? I mean, to ruin the industry, wouldn't it first need to actually have an effect on it? What is this, I don't even...
Agreed. I'm curious as how on EARTH a game like this is "ruining the industry." I'm more inclined to think that your average (I say average, not all) AAA game is the more likely culprit, what with all the stagnancy in it and whatnot.
I said it before, but it's cause anyone who likes JRPGs=entitled, whiny fanboy who don't deserve to play it cause they belong in their country.

Things to hate are easy to find, but there are great parts of the internet too. It is a place for ideas, art, networking-

yeah I'm a sappy person. But when I decide that I want to learn about an industry I hope to get into, there are good people with good intentions willing to share knowledge and make an impossible world possible. You get what you put into anything. Look harder, and you will find what makes it great.

There's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much negativity in the gaming community. Ten years ago, the lead up to a game was people excited for it mixed with reasonable doubts. Now it's an extremely vocal hate brigade going off about how-

1. The franchise is ruined forever.
2. The genre is dead.
3. The developer is dead.
4. The publisher is evil.
5. The game is the worst game ever made.

-and then if you're lucky you can find a few rational opinions.

It's getting really, really ridiculous. And something'll change eventually, I don't know if the negativity will reach critical mass and then change or if people will get some sense knocked into their heads, but it won't last forever.

Most likely it'll just be replaced by some other kind of negativity.

Anyway, don't be a shallow cuntbag, please.

I don't hate the internet . I hate the people on the internet . The internet itself is harmless . I think we should take anonimity away from the internet so we know who to punch.

Nooooo.

I love the internet. It gives me a place to kill time when I'm bored.

Wait. What kind of cookies?
Peanut Butter with a Hersey Kiss on top.

Also, after its destroyed, we should reshape it.
I vote we rebuild with 100% less fanboys!

Also: What the hell!? Etrian Odyssey 4 looks awesome.
Sadly I never played any of these (and I don't have a 3DS) but what I looked up just now reminds me of a more animated "Class of Heroes" on PSP (which is awesome - but I wish they would export the PS3 sequel) or a more colourful version of the recent "Wizardry" game on the consoles.

So what is it about an old school dungeon crawler on the 3DS that is being claimed to be ruining the industry?
Ever since Rainfall, its become cool to bash people who like those games.

I'm starting to think it's not worth playing if I'm just gonna be harrased.
I live in a world where my choice of games are either ignored as niche or outright mocked.
I'm sure you remember the WRPG vs JRPG battles of 2010-2011 (glad those fights are mostly done). Though there has been this weird influx of PC fanboyism lately...

Either way, don't let anyone else deter you from playing the games that you enjoy.
It's their loss really.
Please your definition of "fanboy" is hypocritical because you said it yourself you married an asian and even your last 4 avatars are animae. Since fanboy is being generalist I am generalising also on your fan"atisim over anime. You preference anime concepts over western games and I dont mind that at all, but you still have chosen a side whether you want to admit it or not.

It has nothing to do with those stupid cliche arisocrat or console peasant idea's that I love using cause they are stupid, but I enjoy using them for fun. However your glass house definitely is leaking.

Edit: need I prove more what I am saying about your love of animae I will quote your last post

"Disgaea - Arena fighter (like Dissidia or DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi)
Not really a fave but: Naruto Shippuden - Open world ARPG (Create your own ninja in Naruto's universe)"

what kind of dessert? Ice cream, Puddin', what?

Naw, but I will just say "Hates the internet, complains on the internet about the internet."

The phenomenon you're talking about really isn't widespread. If you go ahead and play lots of Etrian Odyssey 4, and talk about it on the internet, you're not going to get any more haters than if you were talking about Shadow of the Colossus. The world's just full of haters like that, every bit as much as it is filled with good people.

Now, it is common to criticize the Japanese game industry for being "samey" lately and all that jazz, but that's different than people mocking anyone who likes, say, "Radiant Historia". Heck, even "Solatorobo: Red the Hunter", a VERY Japanese game, gets a lot more internet love than hate.

Seriously... a negative backlash to Operation Rainfall? That's news to me. Last I checked, the only significant repercussion of that movement (besides two of the games getting a U.S. release and being quite popular) has been the creation of Operation: Moonfall.

Actually, this guy said it a lot better than I have:

EDIT: Also, this is the internet. No matter where you go, you should expect some hateful comments every now and then just because you're on the internet.

But this is part of the problem: People like them keep sending harrasing emails to people that like those games. And mods just ignore it because what I like < what they like. Plus you can't fight back cause once again my likes < their likes, every gaming website does this. Its like how a store refuses to kick out a customer that is making other customers lives miserable just because the offending customer spends hundreds at the store every week.

If you don't like the internet then stop using it or just try to ignore the idiots on it, whichever you prefer. Though ignoring idiots is very much easier said then done.

I distinctly get the feeling that some people are just in the wrong fucking hobby, frankly; then again I'm going out of my way to find these things (sometimes) because I apparently need to justify my pretty-much-always positive opinion to myself.
Today, it's XCOM. I enjoy XCOM very much.
I've played the original, I enjoyed the original very much; no fucking ESSAYS on why I liked it and what I thought could be improved because my opinion is just better than everyone else's and meh meh meh not the orignal meh meh meh.

I do wonder why some people complain about 'the industry' when they pretty much refuse to play anything that's come out in the past 10 years.

I feel that way too. Negativity definitely outnumbers Positivity. I just remain optimistic & keep on looking, or more often then not, create the good myself. Every bit helps! :)
That's true. I'll try to keep that in mind. Thanks.

I'm going my best not too, kinda hard though. It's just so discouraging to support this community when said community would send me up the river in a second just because I'm not doing exactly everything everyone else does.
