Ok I need some ideas for my animation project ASAP. I have 1 week left in order to do so.

I need to come up with a creature that is suitable for children or Teens. I need to know its main habitat, enemies, food it eats, any abilities, what it looks like, defence mechanisms etc, what its waste looks like (pee, poo etc), how does it get its nourishment, and how can you locate and capture it. PS, these are set by the teacher, not me.

Anyone have any ideas of a creature that they'd love to see or have in real life? Please be as detailed and clear as possible. You never know, I might just use your idea (obviously altered or mixed with others etc) and your names onto the credits.

Thanks =D

EDITED... suitable for children or teens.

Basically, i need it non "violent" in terms of i cannot show bloodshed. No language can be used by the creature, but yes, I can use genitals etc to show the difference between male and female, or just have colours. (That part i'll decide at the end)

This sounds suspiciously like that "create a pokemon" game i played a while back......
Actually, just pick a pokemon and use it. Unless your teacher is some secret otaku, I doubt she'll know wtf a sandshrew is.

The funny thing is, I have this creative mind and all, but my background isn't in this sort of thing. Mine is the horrible and incredibly alien. I'm not sure you'd want either {A} a deadly abomination or {B} an actual sentient alien who'd object to being captured.

Let's see now... Pedobear? (yes I had to)

I don't know, if you need something kids would like make it a fluffy herbivore, and then fire up Monsters inc. to find a cute one.

If you're gonna do that, use a 3rd or 4th gen pokemon.

Or just do some cutesy, Spyro-inspired dragon.

The yorufin is an offshoot of the primate family, though where exactly the differentiation occurred is unknown. It is roughly humanoid in shape (being a vertebrate and possessing two gangly arms and legs), stands around three and a half feet tall on average, and is covered in soft gray fur. It is most commonly found in a tundra environment with lots of trees, though during winter it has been known to move south closer to the Equator. The main sign of its presence in an area would be its droppings, resembling the waste of human beings and other primates. Unlike other primates, however, it has an unusual amount of muscle mass focused into its legs, which it uses to leap after prey. It is solely carnivorous and favors arctic hares as prey. It has been known to gather berries and mosses as bait for arctic hares, then to lie in wait in an overhanging tree branch. However, when such prime food is not available, yorufins are known to pursue such prey as ptarmigan and owl, and rarely caribou when desperate. The yorufin has little in the way of natural predators, since its tree-dwelling habits keep it out of reach of polar bears, but snow leopards have been documented to hunt yorufins for food. The main defense mechanism a yorufin possesses is its astounding leaping ability, able to propel it 30 feet into the air and usually into the branches of a nearby tree, but this does little good against the snow leopard. Yorufins are solitary and nomadic creatures and so are difficult to track, but can be tempted into sight by a preparation of a recently killed arctic hare. One or more yorufins should swiftly appear to investigate the corpse.

There.

Well I spent a lot of time in my chidlhood (and some time now) dreaming up imaginary creatures, so I might be able to help you. I'm wondering though, is this creature supposed to fit into an existing ecosystem on earth, or is it part of a complete fantasy ecosystem?
