The Mauler (Perfect Dark 64). It's like a curved fan that also shoots bullets but very sporadically. Unless you're planning on using it for melee, it's sort of like having a really weak gun that has the spray of a shotgun.

As for a weapon from a movie... I'd probably say the Death Star, lol.

I'm impressed with the pictures of real life double barrelled revolvers, they look sick!

Come on people, MORE PICTURES! If you're posting a weapon, put a picture of it :}

Pretty much any game that throws in personal miniguns is neglecting the fact that the recoil would break your back in about a second...

Now I've never played Metroid but I spend a lot of my internet usage on forums discussing the Samus VS Master Chief flame war and from what I've heard about Samus' suit and weapons I vote that I mean I don't know what enemies you face but they must be pretty tough because shes practicly immortal and I've seen fans go into the real details of it less than 1% could probaly accualy be reproduced and not for several centuries.

melee weapons. Fun to use, but impractical. If you were being charged by a horde of zombies, would you shoot at them or run right at them holding a frying pan?

the chicken sniper rifle and cow gun and all the others from the south park game. And almost all the guns from the first turok on the n64.

I gotta be honest, I skimmed most of that, because I was transfixed by your avatar.

In all seriousness... any large "portable" gun in any FPS. For example, the Gatling Laser and other heavies from Fallout 3; even with my strength technically at its highest level, I doubt a man of that stature with such horrid malnutrition could carry a gun that large and unwieldy.

If you can use them correctly, halberds are great.

I hate to nitpick, and the Gun-Blade is unrealistic, but I'm pretty sure that the giant blade sticking out of the front would weigh it down enough that there wouldn't be very much recoil.

The Needler in Halo games may kick ass but ultimatley if applied to the real world I can't help but imagine things could go seriously wrong. I mean it may lock onto an ally by mistake or the explosion radius would be more extreme, all I'm saying is a ridiculously fancy pink needle shooter is ultimatley a lot less reliable then just a good ol' fashion energy sword.

Also as much as I love the Longshot sniper rifle from Gears of War (I've already propsed to it) I have to admit that for a game set in the distant future where people have advanced satelite technology that can level entire buildings.... it didn't occur to us that a single shot rifle is a little inefficiant? I mean all the other guns had clips or rolls or whatever, there was no reason why the longshot couldn't as well.

Next up, the Line gun in Dead Space. I mean sure it is powerful and very useful but I have to be left wondering what possible purpose it would fill in a mining operation that can't be filled by one of the many other tools. Although I'm ready to admit it could be used for clearing out vertical sections of cave wall.

Finally Bioshock's grenade launcher. It's improvised of course and randomly put together but there is no question that despite being powerful and even quite charming, an improvised launcher that shoots grenades made up of tin cans.... is pretty impractical.

The SPAS-12 and the FAMAS from Rainbow Six Vegas and Vegas 2.

No way in hell are those guns more powerful than the others.

Prism Towers, Prism tanks...
Yeah... They'd suck. All you need is a smoke grenade, and hey! your fancy light tower just baked dirt in the air. Good job!

Scythes are actually kind of impractical in real life, without extensive modification (real war-scythes tend to look closer to naginatas). This especially applies to realistic-looking scythes, but even the ones typically wielded in games are harder to use than they look.

Then again, most scythe users tend to be superhuman in some way, and they do lend themselves to certain maneuvers...and they look damn cool...so they get a pass.

how has nobody yet mentioned the most infamously impractical weapon of all; the buster blade

this weapon would weigh approximately 80 pounds. and even if the person were a freaking hulk and could weild it with ease, the weapon would still be not much more than a club, considering how very thick the blade is.
i agree with this, even though it does look awesome! :)

on that note: can anybody clarify for me whether spephiroths sword could be wielded realisticly? I heard it can but it just doesnt seem possible...

Soul Calibur's joke weapons, specifically Cervante's Gurgitator (dual-wielded giant Shishkabobs). Unfortunately, I can't find any images...

Sephiroth is apparently the only one in the world who can use the Masamune, and he's a super-soldier with genes spliced from an alien deity, so it at least makes sense within the context of the game. I don't know about real-world use, though I doubt that it's possible.

The gatling gun from resident evil 5, how does he carry that all across africa?
One word.
Steroids.
'Nuff said.

I mean, the series has an egotistical CAT man as the primary antagonist, accompanied by a transvestite schizophrenic and a war-hungry mutated ex-soldier who's muscles rival that of Chris Redfields, you have to excuse SOME things. x3
