So I thought I'd ask this question since it was prompted, of all things, by watching G4. At the risk of introducing a bunch of unproductive "zomg G4 sux" posts, I'll leave it at that.
I'm wondering if gamers feel like coverage or media resources for games can improve, and if so, how? Currently, in this digital age, we have blogs, discussion forums, e-zines, and the like, along with traditional formats like printed mags and the limited tv shows we've got. Is there anything else that could be done with the current media or perhaps new avenues to increase awareness and coverage for games?
I would personally like to see more dedicated tv shows if the support is there. The market certainly is, and I really think that the puzzling limited success of gaming-dedicated shows means that perhaps the execution just isn't there, as opposed to the appeal. I'd like to see more industry support for the new forms of distribution for advertising, like iTunes and the increase in HD-formatted content.
What would you folks like to see? Or if you don't think any improvement is needed, why?
