In one session, how long do you think you could game for?

I might have gotten to 6 hour territory, if we're allowing for quick bathroom breaks (actually, I probably got close to that with my recent P4 sessions). Generally, I don't have binge sessions, though I can still get quite obsessed for periods of weeks.

18 hours. After that point there's splitting pain in my eyes so long as they're open, and frankly, no game is worth that kind of pain.
This.
Gaming might be awesome and everything but I have a very firm threshold of 18 hours, the pain starts to kick in at about 10, then gets progressively worse from there until it becomes intolerable to even keep my eyes open by 18.

Even when I do manage an 18 hour session, it's always semi-drunk and in the company of good friends.

My record is about eight hours, but for a cash prize... ... The longest I've stayed awake is close to three days. I think with some added incentive I could try pushing four before I pass out.

When I first got my hands on Minecraft 17 hours evaporated before I realized I was in the grasp of the most addictive substance that could possibly be conceived with me as a personal target in mind. I've done 30 hrs of straight work-at-my-job-then-come-home-and-work-in-the-studio just because I was trying to get something done and I wouldn't stop until I was finished. I spent one spring break of straight 15 hr days in the studio with nine hrs to sleep/eat. So.... competition.... for money?.... I'd say I could probably do a week without sleep. Call it five days before the brain seriously starts to blow fuses. I'd still be up, but if I was playing anything more difficult than Minecraft on "peaceful" I probably would be failing in epic fashion.

Though, a non-stop how-long-can-you-game scenario with all the players are in one competitive game where the inevitable four-way crazy-man stalemate (everyone else has dropped out by a reasonable 72 hours in, each of these guys is still going at like, six days or whatever) would be ended by who has the highest score would be a pretty novel twist. Or like the ending conditions are that once there're fewer than 25% of the people left, and no one has dropped out for, say 24 hrs (or 12 or whatever to keep the audience interested, because 24 hrs of watching near catatonic gamers crumbling spectacularly in competence will probably get pretty boring,) then whoever remains and has the highest score wins. It would be an endurance run to begin with, but players would have to pace themselves, and pull out actual skill at the end, a "sprint for the finish" so to speak.

System Shock 2 held me for about 38 hours in a stretch. I'm assuming you're talking without sleep. I did go to the loo a couple of times and I took a short break for lunch the following day, so I guess there's that.

But yeah, I think most MMO players will have beaten me by now.

I've gone 72 hours on a single game with only Dr. Pepper, Snack Mix and Popcorn to keep me going, and that was without sleep, of course.

..And even longer on most MMO's I've played, if I stick around on them long enough, that is.

Not very long at a time, I have a short attention span. For example, I stopped to play Left 4 Dead whilst typing this very post >.>

I usually have to get up and do something else for a while when gaming, lest my legs die on me.

Nowadays I can't usually go for more than 8 hours, my record should be around 13 or 14.

For a competition though, I think I could handle around 36 hours, and even that's a bit of a stretch. I've never been all that good at staying awake.

In one sitting? Well, I take regular naps in my free time so probably about 5 hours? That sounds about right, 5 hour gaming, take a 30 minute nap, then a snack, then 5 hours more!

I'm pretty sure I've went 20 hours on Oblivion at some point, it was around that time when I had to have a long hard look at where my life was going...

At which point I bought Fallout 3 and New Vegas at which point I basically regressed into becoming a mole person.

My record so far is probably only like 5 or 6 hours, but if I had all my food in front of me, I could probably game all day and all night until I was too tired to stay awake. At least 24 hours.

My record was 12 hours on GTA: San Andreas, and that was alternating with another person every time or every other time we died. And with all the jackass ways to kill yourself in that game it's actually pretty often. Jumping off the walls of buildings on a bicycle with the super jump cheat was awesome. But still, that was with another person alternating. By myself I think the longest I've played a game in one sitting was maybe four or five hours with Oblivion and Fallout 3. After that I physically can't do it, in a contest setting maybe I could muster up eight hours, but that would be stretching it. I get tired of staring at a screen, my eyes get sore, and I'm getting bored with a game, no matter how great it is after an hour or two. Not the game overall, just playing it for the time being.

I can cope with a maximum of 18 or so hours in one sitting. I have other stuff to do tbh :/

24-32hrs but I was trying to see how many days I could stay awake for(I got to day 5 but once I started seeing shadow people in the corner of my vision I called it quits). Once you get a certain amount of sleep deprivation, your ability to game is severely stunted.

I could probably do 40 hours pretty easily. I think the longest I've ever actually gone was 20 or so, but I was well out the far side of tired by then.
