What does madness entail?
Tell me your thoughts on what you think makes you sane,
and what would make you lose that 'sanity'

Now the general 'amused' response will be that you are indeed crazy, for this and that funny reason, or writing some gibberish in order to 'prove that you are insane' (i.e. to amuse others)

But, very often, it is the notion of being called 'crazy' itself that fuels
the enactment of abnormalities found in fruitcakes like you and me.

<--- my Gamertag/Profile name is Latin for Insane/foolish.

Surely thats reason enough?

And im barely sane now. I dont think i could lose my sanity, I could just become "amused".

I'm overly cynical with a need to control anything I'm involved in. And I'm an incredible narcissist, and dislike most people. There's more, but I feel lazy.

for some reason I started to laugh insanely while reading your last sentence.
uh oh. that can't be good.

OP: well, to lose your sanity, apparently you just have to get put on Japan's Death Row.

Recently I have been writing my thoughts in a box on my notebook in school while everyone goes about talking to each other except me. If I didn't do this I would go mad.

The Tell Tale Heart, good story.

What would make me go insane? Not being able to move, that's why if I ever become quadriplegic, I'm going to roll myself off the top of a skyscraper.

Woo the DSM IV (think thats right, well the one used now). That will tell you if your insane haha. Also they look at abnormality hence abnormal psychology, behaviour that is out of norm. Such as the top 1% ends of a standard deviation norm. Also there are aspects to do with personal distress, eg OCD gives personal distress. How you lose your sanity is then split between nature and nuture and my favourite the diathesis stress model, we have a bio disposition to "madness" and something in the enviroment triggers it. Abnormal psychology is really interesting. As long as the voices shut up then i think i'm sane :p

Looking back on my personal code, I think the fact that I care about a small number of people is what keeps me sane.

Probably not having anything at all. It's amazing how long I can screw around with even the most mundane objects.

That site makes me go crazy. Do you WANT people to waste their day?

Dammit! Stop linking to TV Tropes, people! I have shit to do today!

Ugh...as for insanity, I hallucinate regularly, so I guess that's something.

TvTropes is like Dark Side - sucks you in before you can say "Scaramango". But you can resist it - just say "Fuck off" at the very beginning.

And, dear Reeper, how would you know you were mad? Would you notice your madness because you have stepped outside your 'norm', your way of doing things? Or will others tell you you're mad? But you do not do things like the others, already. So are you mad now?

I'm pretty sure I'm slightly insane. Like really. To quote the wise words of cKy and apply them to my current psyche "You live in fear of being someone that you didn't want to, I realise you insecurities will get the best of you."

Then again me being aware of the fact I'm a bit mental means I'm technically not insane, just eccentric.

You play the game recently featured in alt/escape yet? 'time fcuk'? At some point the game tells you: ''You are never allowed to sleep again. Laziness is merely the habit of resting before getting tired'' Surely I am narcissistic as well, as I exist mainly to allow myself to keep on living (existing as such), for my own pleasure and my own goals, being my own cage as well. Also, the Devil's Dictionary has this to say about cynics:

''CYNIC, n.
A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be. Hence the custom among the Scythians of plucking out a cynic's eyes to improve his vision.''
look up the words blackguard and Scythian if you please.
