In what games do we torture people?

You know, I think the sad truth we're reaching here is that in this particular case, the anti video game activists are actually right. OP asked which games we torture people in expecting a "none, they're all full of shit" response and instead picked up a big list of games with torture sequences in them. The issue is now whether or not this is actually a problem.

Goddamn, people. Interrogation (even the scene in Black Ops) =/= torture.

Torture is something completely different.

The answer is none, as long as we aren't counting certain H-games and flash games.
Sorry, that point of view is simply wrong. If you tie a guy to a chair and inflict agonizing pain on him until he talks then you're torturing him. Period. This is NOT a matter of opinion here.

Rule of Rose. It was essentially a bunch of children physically and mentally torturing a young man, as well as showing underlying themes and symbolism pointing towards both rape, murder and torture against children.

Bring this man the finest meats and cheeses from all the land!

There's a rather...intensive...interrogation scene in New Vegas at Camp McCarran that can degenerate into torture (indeed, the NCR officer advocates this outcome).

But for the most part, torture (with all of its sadistic, bad-for-America's-youth implications) is curiously absent from video games. You have to wait until you're all grown up and can join the military if you want to torture people as an American.

Um, yeah it is. Anything is a matter of opinion.
No. No it is not. You're just playing with semantics, except you really don't understand what you're talking about. You can HAVE an opinion on anything you like (although it's perfectly possible to be be simply wrong), but hard truths and facts of reality are not matters of opinion. The colour of the clear-weather daytime sky is not a matter of opinion; it's blue. The weight of a 50kg dumbbell is not a matter of opinion; it's 50kg. The date of my birthday is not a matter of opinion; it's the 19th of September. Whether or not violent interrogation is torture is not a matter of opinion; it is. You can have the opinion that it isn't, of course, but you would simply be wrong.

Just a quick question for the Black Ops one. Is it a cut scene or are you actually participating in it. That was kinda what I was going for. The player is actually doing the torturing.

BAM. OWNED :)

Nice one, I totally agree. It is a word with a definition, not a concept.

But on topic, I've never played a game where you torture someone, excepting that you then intend to kill them afterwards, such as blowing off a guy's leg and letting him crawl around and scream for a while before finishing him off. Wow, that sounds really psychotic.

But never any game in which you torture someone for information, but of course there are plenty of games like that out there, JUST AS THERE ARE PLENTY OF FUCKING MOVIES AND BOOKS, IDIOTS.

For fucks sake, the blind ignorance of most people astounds me.

You only have to push two buttons, but it isn't a cutscene,

Except violent interrogation being torture isn't a fact of life.
Yes, yes it is. Read the definition.

There's a flash game on newgrounds called "The Torture Game". It's very graphic and gory so if you have a weak stomach don't go searching for it. I think some current affairs show even did an article about it in Australia.

And you know the kinds of people who play those games? Fucked up teenagers who think it's funny or trying to simulate their fetishes (as they wonder why they are still virgins) and screwed up kids from shitty homes. It's on par with fucking Happy Tree Friends.
