It was definitely cool. A fun idea and well-made, although some of the concepts could have been better executed. I got that there was this tension between 2D and 3D, but it's not abundantly clear that the kidnapped princess was causing the shift to 2d. I think they could have used that mechanic a bit more creatively, rather than just as a different way to show certain action shots. Also, they should have taken a clue from actual video games and made the main character and enemies pop more in the side-scrolling parts (tough to see at times), but whatever, it obviously took a lot of work and I commend them for it.

Who animated that? It looks on par with most Pixar shorts.
I wouldn't go that far. Pixar owns at story, but this was meh in that regard, despite its technical excellence.

Very good looking, a little too frantic at times and it needed to be zoomed in a bit more during the downgrade sections, it was hard to see what was happening. I liked it but I didnt like how the characters looked. I know they kept it to a sort of retro look but they just looked a bit retarded to me. Overall very enjoyable but also a bit of a hit and miss for me.

Shit. I am impressed, but would have been more impressed if they occasionally slowed it down a bit.

Better then I could do anyway.

Well, I liked it.
It may have been a little frantic, but it certainly wasn't boring. Then again, that may be another throwback to older games, MegaMan levels just go loopy sometimes.

Kinda wish it started with more modern game things, like an FPS or stealth-like part, but who am I to complain? I couldn't have done that.

EDIT:
Just thought I'd throw in that it reminded me of DragonBall Z: Burst Limit. I'm not sure why it did or why I felt the need to tell you all but... yeah.

That was amazing. I didn't get many of the references when the text whilst in 2D kept popping up though.

The girl was a reference to FF7, Jenova. But there was a triforce on her but I'm not too sure if it was just coincidental because they seem pretty irrelevant.

What confuses me is whether they mean 3D games like in movies 3D or if they mean 3D as in 3D modeling. I'm not too sure. I'm thinking it was the former because of the red/blue shift that happened which is indicative of 3D animations/film when the viewer isn't wearing 3D glasses.

Well, when the girl is awake and fine, its all flat 2D retro. When she is KO'd, its 3D modeling, and when she is close to death is when the 3D, ie jumping off screen, starts to appear, suggesting her death would make everything like that.

This would make a cool game, where it jumps from different play styles. Would probably the harcoreyst game ever.

It's alright I guess. Doesn't do anything for me.

I didn't like the character designs and when it went into 2D mode, it was a bit hard to follow.

One of the moves/powerups was called final flash, isn't that one of Vegeta or Trunks' attacks?

That was cool. I just don't like how they were saying that 3D gaming is bad. They are both great. It just seems like it was made from the point of view of a nostalgic fanboy.
Exactly. Hand me a minigun, i feel an irresistible urge to shoot the message. "Progress is bad BLAAARGH"? I mean, seriously? I thought videogamers were better than this.

If people will keep whining about the "good old ways" when we get holographic projectors, i'm going to hang myself.
