Industry Elites Added As Judges for Webcomic Contest

Obviously none of us NEED to win because it is a contest where we don't even know how much we will be paid for the contract should we win. It could be next to nothing. Personally I would be fine with that, it would be awesome just to say I was a published working artist.

Oh, sure, none of us need to win, but as someone who wants to make a career out of being a writer, this could be the best opportunity I'll have in a long time to get my foot in the door and my name out there.

Agreed. Writing and comics are REALLY competitive--and there's not really a school you can go to that will channel you fairly surely into that line of work. I'm in school right now for environmental science and I'm 99% sure I could go and work for the EPA right out of school. That's DEFINITELY not how comics work.

One of my friends hosts a dinner with a bunch of artists/writers and they always turn out like this forum, weird and hilarious.

Just so you guys know... I need this contract to feed my 17 children that I saved single handedly from a burning orphanage...

So you either rescued your own 17 children from the orphanage to which you'd abandoned them (in which case, five high for productivity if nothing else), or you've stolen 17 random orphan children. Either way, tsk tsk sir.

I think the "Reason I need to win" thing is silly.
No one needs to win.
We'd all like to win, that's a given, but I'm fairly sure the judges won't be looking on the forum saying "He/she needs this most, give it to them!"

It's going to be down to the best comic!

Let's just wait and see who wins and know that everyone at this point is in the same situation and everyone want's the same thing.

The comic the escapist deems best for their site will win.
Only the judges can decide which comic is best for their purpose.

Basically we just draw up comics sequentially playing off of the comics others post telling a story about the wait. Its like improv for cartoonists.

No it was the other mirror universe were the good guys pretend to be bad guys and the bad guys are completely evil douchbags. Plus its the universe where flying monkeys give free Cappiccinos to everyone... except Ryan and he knows why.

so must been alot of comics, so statistically speaking that makes chances of victory low. Upside is, as a reader that means we should have one awesome winner. Though I'm somewhat happy about the wait. The wait itself sucks but this is the last week before spring break so atleast I don't have to worry about the results until then

I should really check out that art forum.

Well I'd have to see what your actual submissions looked like, but this stuff here is really good. The Darkstalker one had some funny angles but the others all seemed really quality stuff. (and I'm an art student, so my opinion is based on things!)
