It looks good certainly but I really wouldn't say it looks a whole lot better than the first game, mechanically at least.
It's an on-rails chase, pun intended, which relies on semi-pinpoint jumping and little actual planning from the player followed by a little bit of running and one super move. Besides a bit of destruction and one-hit melee kills is there anything in this that actually looks like it's been radically changed or even altered at all?
I liked the first Infamous, bar it's button-press heavy take on parkour, and really don't see this game as looking especially different. It may be a better game overall but this early footage doesn't show off all that many changes or even improvements.
I'd beg to differ, remember this is is just a demo of gameplay footage, they always make the player invincible, more powerful and show off as much things they can (which may invalidate my, and your, point but still).
The parkour is much more fluid, the electro-wall-run was kick ass, and there was always "semi-planning" a jump. In the original InFamous, there were always convenient powerlines (so long as you found them) so you could chase whatever it is you needed to chase. The animations are a
helluvah lot better, and that's pleasing for an animation-junkie like me. The visuals are much better than the original to, and the new powers were also pretty awesome.
The only real thing I have to complain about is the voice, which is unfortunately permanent. The character model I don't mind so much, but it's mainly the voice all of a sudden becoming pretty boy-ish that threw me off.
Overall, I'm probably just a poor ole' fanboy succumbing to hype, but regardless I'm pretty excited for the new InFamous. It's definitely a series that can expand on itself and improve indefinitely.
