I don't like lumping the two together this time any more than I did last time. But with inFamous 2 definitely coming soon and Prototype 2 very likely, I've been thinking a lot about the powers in both games. So here are my two questions to you guys and gals:

1. What new powers would you like to see out protagonists using?
And
2. What else would you like to see in the sequels?


[PROTOTYPE] 2 Protagonist
Still not sure who this will be, maybe ZEUS, maybe another Blacklight creation. Either way there need to be some catastrophic new devestators. Tendril Barrage, Critical Pain, Groundspike Graveyard, all pretty lethal. I'm liking the idea of of some more focused devestators, for boss battles and bigger enemies. Critical Pain was good and all, it just missed a lot... I was thinking more like grapples, a fist in the ground, raising several tendrils (or fists) each one grabbing and crushing the fodder, of if locked onto a larger enemy (like a Hunter) then it targets one specifically and deals considerable damage.

Personally I'm hoping to get a bonus for having an inFamous save on my PS3. Maybe getting to star with a bit of extra XP or a power that won't break the game, so maybe starting with the level 1 Gigawatt Blades. I've only really thought about one power for Cole and it basically gives him minor magnetic power, such as a magnetic pull, being able to draw objects closer for cover (such as dustbins, cars and pretty much anything else that a magnet might pull). The only other idea I had, was an equivalent to [PROTOTYPE]'s devestator attacks (the lightning storm kinda filled this role in inFamous I guess). But Cole definitely needs something more lethal in his arsenal, especially if he's on the more sinister side. I'm thinking one big release of electrical energy (think Cell's 'Perfect Barrier' from DBZ), pretty much depleting all power cells.

I have no hopes for a second Prototype. I couldn't wait for that game after reading the GameInformer feature, but it was (mostly) disappointing. One of the few reasons it sold well is because it was released during summer drought. The need a more relatable protagonist and better A.I. and a whole lot more for me to be interested in it.

I have to agree with you on all those points. The plot was like an X-files fanfic gone wrong and Mercer spent the whole game growling under his breath and making incredibly arbitrary moral choices that totally did NOT go with the things he was saying. ><

^disregard these guys' remark, this thread is meant for people to say what they WANT to see in a sequel, not for people to troll on inFamous or Prototype

OT: well, i actually have a list of things i posted before on another thread, here they are:
-Give me the ability to eat while on the run (to avoid those things I mentioned earlier about web of intrigue targets dying randomly)
-Give me the ability to use my claws and sword while sprinting without sacrificing movement (like a running stiff-arm or something)
-Give me the ability to use my razor-whip to whip my way onto buildings like Spiderman or Bionic Commando.
-Give me some more cheats (cool and interesting ones, even invincibility would be a nice change of pace)
-Have a different location, something more colorful and lively, like Las Vegas (Prototype in vegas could be fun, no?)
-Consolidate the moves so that we don't have to do awkward button combination to pull them off (like x+b)
-use a better engine that can make the damage look better/more gratuitous and allow us to destroy more buildings (just a suggestion)
-have more varied minigames/sidemissions (i didnt discuss these before, but its because you dont HAVE to do them, nor do they really add or subtract anything from the game if you ignore them)
-More DLC support, maybe we could get more cool powers or costumes and stuff, you know?

EDIT: Since i never played infamous, but i KNOW its good, i just hope the sequel takes place in a bigger city and you get more ways to get around the city than climbing and rail-sliding

inFAMOUS 2? More "gray" choices, not having the choice between of "Rescuse kitten from tree for little girl" or "Blow up tree and little girl for $0.43"

You both completely missed the point of this thread. Take your opinions elsewhere, I'm just interested in what powers you'd like to see in the sequel of either inFamous 2 or [PROTOTYPE] 2.

Gimme more subtlety in Prototype 2.

It was damn near impossible to be stealthy. And there was NO style! He just wrecked everything that looked at him funny. No style. Just brute force. Add some stealth powers. Like a stealth whip-arm grapple.

Infamous 2. Less vibration please. That game drained my PS3 controller significantly faster with all it's damn vibration. Grinding a rail caused more vibration than a fucking lightning storm. Also, NO SIXAXIS. At all. Thank you.

As for a power? How about flight. Static thrusters, but for flying.

Oh sorry, I want "Generic A-hole"'s powers to be equally badass. At the end of the game, I only used the chain whip. That is really the only power improvements I can think of.

what if the game took a "campy" approach and didn't take itself seriously? thats how "i" think the story could actually be entertaining, because what the guy does and what the guy is TRYING to do don't match up, so... what if he LOVED what he was doing and just laughed about it? what if the game never asked us to take things seriously? i think that'd be a better approach for a game about a guy who can eat an old lady, turn into her, and then scale the empire state building in less than 10 seconds XD

Well I think if anything, the player should be able to choose their own play style.

The powers bought in the upgrades menu you should include choices for people who want to be full blown tanks with massive amounts of health and a wide variety of destructive attacks. On the other end there should be upgrades for a character who would rather be stealthy, such as the ability to fool the viral detectors, but at the cost of having to frequently consume fresh human DNA, stealth kills and of course better stealth consumes and patsy moves.

Infamous 2 is coming next year Prototype 2 NEVER; the company liquidated and Activision withdrew further funding - it was the same week they dropped Red Octane which was April. I read it on Kotaku ages ago so sorry to be a burden of bad news.

InFamous 2: Fully animated cutscenes instead of motion comics would be nice. Gameplay-wise, I can't really think of anything. Maybe a bit of variation on the standard lightning projectile attack and a new power or two in the "throw a bit of explodey-lightning-whee-fun at the enemy" category like the shock wave and electric grenade (I think that's what they were called). InFamous 2 seems pretty good in the gameplay department already, though, so I don't have any particular requests.

[PROTOTYPE] 2: An improved stealth element. Stealth was a joke in the first game, which is a shame, because it would've added a lot of fun variety to the game. Also I'd like the "gain someone's abilities and memories" part of consumption to be explored a bit more. The Web of Intrigue was cool and all in the first game, but it'd be nice to have an added focus on the main story, as well as making the Web more web-like (i.e. consuming one target gives you information on where to hunt down others, instead of them just showing up randomly on radar). I'd also like a couple new offensive and defensive powers and a bit more stream-lining of the combat system, like quick-changing between powers or using more than one of each type at once.

Ah well, that sucks for people who enjoyed [PROTOTYPE], like me. Shame we'll never see if Radical would have tried to fix some of the first games flaws.

Oh well, we still have inFamous 2.

Prototype was actually OK it was above average nothing exceptional but it was fun I was sad to read it too but I am very glad infamous 2 is getting a sequel, however the worst thing for that game is that it limits sales by being exclusive, I rented it as I have all 3 but I did not want to buy it at the time. I would totally buy that game though if it was on the 360 as my ps3 is the most underplayed. However yeah for infamous 2 more wacky abilities and a more concise more choices I want some grey choices.

Why? You don't make any choices other than good or evil, I'd be pissed off if they threw in a load of references to old stuff just for the sake of it. The death of your ex and the fact that all but one of the villains escaped should be the only plot points we see coming back in a significant way, there's really not much else to it.

I'd like to see a mild step up in difficulty most of all, headshots... uh headshocks... were very easy to get and in all but the last area they were an instant kill on hard. I'd also like a boss who doesn't do that quicktime event thing when you do a certain amount of damage.

Yeah, I guess but still. I think that whether you were evil or good in the first game should matter. For example:

If you where good.

-people will act more betrayed, because they think you destroyed the first city, instead of the beast

-there could be supporting citizens who have heard of your actions and try to help.

-Sasha could try to convince Cole to join her and he can be all like "GET OUT OF MY HEAD!"

If Evil

-People will already run in fear of you

-the Militia will have more reasons to kill you, and the citizens support of them will greaten even more!

-Sasha's advances could have more effect on Cole, either making him respect the idea more or get really pissed off because of his last girlfriend.

-The telepathic hobo (forget his name) could talk about how you and Kessler are even more alike then before.

I haven't looked into the story of inFamous 2 cause I'm really trying to avoid spoilers so I have no idea what Sasha's plan is so I can't comment on that though, perhaps there's some way they could make it work if it revolves around the choices you made with the Reapers. I think it'd make more sense that if you destroyed the tar and gave yourself a heavy dose of it Sasha's advances would have much more effect on you though if anything.
