You know, I usually play the devil's advocate when it comes to big corporations, but let me say, fuck Activision, and fuck Bobby Dick! I was vastly disapointed by MW2, but a single game is not a reflection of the entire studio. I like Infinity Ward, and it's undeniable that they deliver good games, but this latest blow will be hard to recover from.

Here's hoping all the talent that's seeping out of it will somehow band together and form a new company and new IP's, Justice League-style!

And one more time for good measure: Bobby Dick, fuck you very much.

Well the scrap of good news is that these heavy contributors, and probably the people who put in a lot of things we love about the series, can form a new company or join another, free from the oppressive Activision.

I really believed in Activision. After Kotick came out and said he didn't want to look like a dick, he seemed pretty cool. Well, looks like thats ruined.

OT: I hope they get picked up by EA.

Why would they be firing people? Didnt MW2 make a crap-ton of money? Surely theyd want to make more of the same?

It's getting to the stage where I imagine most of the Blizzard execs would want to beat up the Vivendi execs for buying up Activision, and letting Bobby Koteck threaten to destroy their investment by doing nothing to prevent Activision becoming unsustainable (which is what Activision is looking like at the moment, in my opinion).

Yeah, but that's exactly what they'd expect us to do...

Good. Maybe that will mean that Modern Warfare 3 won't be unbelievably bananas, like the last installment. Maybe that also means it will have a cost to game length ratio that is better than ten clams an hour.

Somehow though, I doubt that will be the case, what with the sales of the second being so absurdly high.

Yeah, I'm half way agreeing but if Robert Bowling jumps ship, I'll 100% agree. Not that he does everything but he is the company voice. Sad yet insanely happy to see this. Maybe now they will have to stick with one game for over a year so I don't have to follow a money blowing trend to play against more than 4 people.

It really annoyed me when CoD:WaW came out and I continuously saw the same damn guy the entire night after leaving one lobby to a new one. The guy wasn't bad but knew my usual routes.

After what they did to one of my favorite FPS's, I glad they're falling apart.

It seems to me that Activision quite clearly hasn't learned from the past when EA did this. Other publishers seem to recognise the value of creativity and letting the studio work to their full ability on the games they created but Activision seems to be a case of history repeating itself with publishing annual shit and trying to call it a sequel. Hopefully this year will pass by, Activision will learn and we can all go back to a market unsaturated by blandness.

I doubt we'll end up repeating '83, because not all publishers are following this practice.

But I say good on those IW guys for telling Activision to stick it, I'm always an advocate of creativity. Hope their good rep gets them work.

Oh well. I like IW, although MW2 disappointed me. Call of Duty: United Offensive was my favourite.

Sucks for them. Hopefully this'll turn out good for them in the end, and they'll get hired into a company who's publisher doesn't cheat them out of their hard-earned cash.

You're assuming that logic was involved.

EDIT: Didn't want to create another topic because the news are similar.
http://www.strategyinformer.com/news/7648/more-veterans-leave-infinity-ward-proven-talent-remains-behind

Jon Shiring and Mackey McCandlish, two more people that long-time followers of the CoD series might now, have quit Infinity Ward.
Shiring has been with the studio for six years and McCandlish for eight.
Not really much value for discussion here but still.

Anyway, it's not really them I hate, they just made a game I didn't like, that's not an unforgivable sin, it's Activision that are the true cunts in the equation, both in making the game, and dealing with studio politics.
If I'm honest, I'd never even heard of Infinity Ward before Modern Warfare became the greatest gift to the world since Jeebus H. Christ, so all my hate for the game is-unfairly-pinioned on IW.

Still, can't wait to see how Activision will keep one of their sacred cows from rolling over and giving up the ghost.
See Edit - after West and Zampella announced Respawn, you could expect more people quitting.

IW has been dead since West and Z were forced out. They seemed like the leaders and without them no MW game would be the same...I read somewhere that they're trying to take the MW license and use it with their new company, as for IW, well it was a cool logo and a good run, but I have to say that anything good coming from there for now will be a surprise to myself...Activision can burn in hell for the shit they pulled

The new company is called Respawn Entertainment and is affiliated with EA.
And they're trying to sue Activision to get the license.
That's it.
