In 1990 the Voyager left our solar system. In a picture it sent back to us the earth was merely a single small dot surrounded by billions like it.

Carl Sagan said this about that picture:

"Look again at that dot. Thats here. Thats home. Thats us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human beeing that ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideaologies and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every couple in love, every mother and father, hopefull child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar", every "supreme leader", every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there - on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam."

R.I.P Carl - the world is less without you.

When asked "What did you feel when you pulled the trigger and killed them" a solder simply replied "recoil" I am not sure if that is the exact quote of who gave it but it defiantly sounds like a reply i would give is I was hit by a spark of wit at the time.

Well I have a couple from Warhammer 40K codex's and stories I rather like:

"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

"What I cannot crush with words I will crush with the tanks of the Imperial Guard!"

Both are from Lord Commander Solar Macharius.

"Into the fires of battle, unto the anveil of war!"

Battle cry of the Salamander Space Marine Chapter.

"No Fear! No Pity! NO REMORSE!"

Battle cry of the Black Templar Space Marine Chapter.
How could you possibly miss 'Men of Tanith, do you want to live forever!?'

Also 'I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it' Voltaire

I agree with you statement, however I think the noise of her engine counts for quite alot!

"Don't believe in yourself, believe that I believe in you"--Kamina from Gurren Lagann(not exact wording but the ideas the same)
I don't get this. I thought this was a hilarious parody of motivational speeches the first time somebody linked the video, but it's apparently meant to be taken seriously. What possible good does it do me if other people believe in me? It's just such a nonsensical phrase.

OT: Pretty much anything from the Legacy of Kain series would do. Instead, I'll go with a choice Prisoner quote, because that show is amazing.

No.6: ?I'm gonna escape and come back.?
No.2: ?Escape and come back . . . ??
No.6: ?Ah, yes--escape, come back, wipe this place off the face of the earth, obliterate it . . . and you with it.?

Also, the letter in V for Vendetta makes me cry every time I reread it. The relevant bits:
"But it was my integrity that was important. Is that so selfish? It sells for so little, but it's all we have left in this place. It is the very last inch of us. But within that inch we are free...
...I shall die here. Every last inch of me shall perish. Except one.

An inch. It's small and it's fragile and it's the only thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it, or sell it, or give it away. We must never let them take it from us."

Lastly, a quote from a Silver Mount Zion song:
"We are an army, if we believe we are an army."

Captcha: Know your rights. Damn straight.

"I'm sorry but I don't want to be an Emperor, that's not my business. I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another, human beings are like that. We all want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery. We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone and the earth is rich and can provide for everyone.

The way of life can be free and beautiful. But we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in:

machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little:

More than machinery we need humanity; More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men, cries out for universal brotherhood for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me I say "Do not despair". The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress: the hate of men will pass and dictators die and the power they took from the people, will return to the people and so long as men die, liberty will never perish...

Soldiers: don't give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you and enslave you, who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel, who drill you, diet you, treat you as cattle, as cannon fodder. Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men, machine men, with machine minds and machine hearts. You are not machines. You are not cattle. You are men. You have the love of humanity in your hearts. You don't hate, only the unloved hate. Only the unloved and the unnatural. Soldiers: don't fight for slavery, fight for liberty.

In the seventeenth chapter of Saint Luke it is written: "The kingdom of God is within man" Not one man, nor a group of men, but in all men; in you, the people. You the people have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness. You the people have the power to make life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then in the name of democracy let's use that power, let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give you the future and old age and security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power, but they lie. They do not fulfil their promise, they never will. Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people. Now let us fight to fulfil that promise. Let us fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers, do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men's happiness."

I win?
