After playing Halo 1 and 2 all the way through kept pressing X to reload in Halo 3 and Reach(recon control layout). It got annoying.

Mass Effect 2 during the suicide mission. I had Grunt lead the second fire team because Shepard and the others needed a distraction. This brought me back to my days in WOW and made me think that Grunt would be the perfect tank.

Unfortunately, he wasn't. As he died after that part in the mission.

I made the same mistake regarding the aggression-drawing-distraction-team aptitude of Grunt, and then again with Jack.

Once I was trying out Battlefield bad company 1 and since I come from quake and what not, my first instinct with the rocket launcher was to try to jump onto roof to get to sniper with it it did not work out well for me at all.

Every time I play an AC game, it ruins my ability to play anything else for a while because I instinctively try to climb walls.

When I was playing through AC2 for the second time, it got to the point where I instinctively went to scale my porch instead of climbing the stairs (doable, but would look weird, my porch is right on a busy street). I only noticed what I was doing right after I put my hands on the lowest part of the rail to pull myself up.

Backstabs in TF2 have now lead me to melee every unsuspecting enemy in the back.

It's actually effective in a bunch of games, but of course I'm usually wielding a weapon that does the job a lot better.

Crouch jump in every FPS ever. Fuck you, Valve. You've ruined me.

you know when in some games you jump but to clear a ledge you move whilst in the air. i always push the direction at a run then jump and die.

Whenever I've been playing Battlefield Bad company 2 and then I switch to Cod I always try to mark people but instead bring up the score screen I do it every time.

I try to use vats and slow motion abilities in just about every fps game and the button is usually a throw grenade button so it usually ends in me killing myself.

Playing duex ex:HR this week i have so far tried to hit the left trigger to aim guns seems i play too much cod.Also a few nights ago while playing was sneaking around pressed right trigger expecting it to go into vats for some reason thinking i was playing fallout.But instead threw a grenade at a guards back.

I am not sure between me and the guard who was more surprised

I've had a similar experience in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. For some reason I keep thinking that R2 will make me sprint. It throws secondary weapons like grenades. Oops. And honestly, I don't know why I keep trying to sprint with R2. It just seems natural.

When I first started playing, I had just come off several weeks of GTA4 - several playthroughs and one final surge getting 100% completion in the game.

I tried to play JC2 in the same techniques - cover-based shooting, realism and general caution, and got torn apart.

JC2 and GTA4 are a stark contrast between realism and lunatic fun... and going from one to the other is quite jarring.
