I got used to mashing X to run in Red Dead Redemption, and when I switched to Call of Duty I couldn't stop jumping.

Playing God of War, I keep trying to move the camera with the right stick, and end up rolling around like an idiot.

Back when I played Super Smash Brothers Brawl alot, when I played other games I would catch myself trying to "recover" from falling off cliffs.

And now that I play Mortal Kombat alot, I find myself trying to block with R2 in all kinds of different games.

I sometimes have a strong urge to hold down the shift key while approaching a ledge to look over them in games other than Minecraft.

Morrowind hard-coded bunny hopping into my brain-stem.
In pretty much any game that's in first person perspective, I constantly revert to hopping.
Because it raises my acrobatics skill and makes me go faster.
It's not helpful in Deus Ex: HR.

Any FPS I play after Fallout 3 or New Vegas, I end up trying to go into VATS. This is especially exciting when grenades are mapped to that button instead.

The first time I ever played the sc2 mod with unlimited money I had been playing the actual game for a long time, so I basically did a standard 1v1 build while my opponent came at me with 40 mutas at the 5 minute mark. :(

Hmm ... as a long-time Total War series general, it always sucks when I try to play Starcraft/Blizzard-style RTS against a human opponent.

I set up my troops expecting .. y'know .. realism. And not suicidal soldiers. Pisses me off no end when the final results show me eliminating something like 5 times more troops, but him winning because they're immune to morale effects.

In Alpha protocol the first thing I did was press select to get the Codec radio...Then I was like "Oh, wait."

Whenever I replay Brawl with friends I try to do an aerial combo from Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

I usually end up dying.

After spending a lot of time building towers in Minecraft, you forget that crouching in other games doesn't prevent you from falling.
Oh my yes.
Also, it's hideous when WASD refuses to work in a game (especially an RTS; Looking at you DoW2:R!)
Not to mention mechanics like wall running, and worse; the auto jump feature from Arkham Asylum in a platformer. Oh that burned.

Idk if this counts, but when I go ride my bike after a long Mario Kart session, sometimes I instinctively try to drift.

It does not end well.

The first Third-person game I played on my PS3(before I was mainly a PC gamer) was Assassins Creed Brotherhood, now hen playing 3 person shooters I instinctively hit R1+X to sprint.

Just got done replaying Super Mario Galaxy, then played Mario 64 DS. Just once I...shook the DS to try to make Mario jump higher. So ashamed.

I've tried to use homing cancels (an Arcana Heart concept) in Melty Blood, which has a similar button setup.

I was playing Left 4 Dead 2, and after playing Fallout, I kept trying to open all the suitcases and boxes scattered around

I tried playing Deus Ex:HR in stealth mode (as was implied.) Until I realised it's a cover based shooter with pretentions to stealth gameplay.

After Red Faction Guerilla ramming vehicles into buildings seems SO intuitive...

I dont like games with cover system, so when I end up playing them I tend to run for cover, crouch, and wonder why the character lowers his head too little to hide properly.

For a modern player enemies in old FPS games have a jarring resistance to head shots.

Aw man I got a warning. Oops

Anyway I thought of something else. I've been playing a lot of pc shooters lately like team fortress and killing floor. I Played halo the other day and wanted to turn the sensitivity up. Then I realized it was on 10. Lolwut
