I dont really see anything wrong with it, if they're sentient, similar to us and mate in the same way as us then I dont see an issue, although of course many people would.

Also I really do not understand all the people saying its bestial, if they are sentient and intelligent then its not like 'screwin' a pooch', its something completely different.

I mean, if you find someone you like...REALLY like then should you be denied being able to...be with them just because of...differences?

I'd pretty much liken a member of an intelligent race to another human person anyday.

Agreed. Likely upon first contact most humans will want the nukes launched and the satellites to inexplicably fire lasers. We're a species naturally hostile to anything previously unexperienced, where do you think racism, homophobia, and other predujices come from? Upon discovery of these minorities, most humans wanted them destroyed, it's just a few (although far more than I find acceptable) who still cling onto this agression now, possibly through generations of misinformation by parent after parent.

Of course, it should be acceptable. If they truly care about each other, they should go ahead. But what should happen, is rarely what will happen.

I've been reading a lot of Pokemon fanfiction recently, and it's gotten me thinking. If we dicover another sentient race, and we have the means to actually physically coming in contact with them, would relationships with them (ranging from just friendship to sexual) be ok?

I personally think yes; as we are both sentient races and therefore we are both able to make our own decisions.

I've had quite the close bond of friendship with a member of another species (look to your left). But if you're talking about screwing the Green Skinned Space Babe, I'll pass.

I've been meaning to ask if that was a rat or a chinchilla. If it's the latter, sweet. I had a few of those years a go and they were awesome pets. Too social with each other to be my best friend though. My current ferret is filling that role nicely as long as she doesn't kick it. She's old and not in great health. And if it is a rat on your shoulder, well that's cool too because they also make decent pets, despite their very short lifespan.

OT: My first reaction is "ew!" but I can't justify why not. I'll attribute it to just not floating that way, just as seeing kissing gays doesn't make me comfortable, but I'm not going to tell them they aren't allowed to do that.

EDIT: Wait, Pokemon fanfic? I remember Something Awful highlighting a few of those when they visited some other forums for their Weekend Web article. Hilarity ensued.

Well... I would not be into it and would personally prefer not to see it but... I'd have to support it. To express one's sexuality, though some find it gross or weird, is one's right. I would not want to stop someone from doing that even if I was uncomfortable with it. As long as they don't try to get me to join in, I'm totally ok with it. Same way with religion.

Depends. People may not be as accepting of that as you or I. :x

I would have friendship with an alien, but anything sexual would require them to be at least humanoid I think. Unless it's mental sex or something Coneheads style. xD

If it's aliens, we could just follow Captain Jack's Rules:

1) Is it beautiful?
2) Is it consenting?
3) Is it vaugely humanoid?
