Sure!
Then you get furries :D
I do believe I am summoning them right now.
*Quickly glances out of the window expecting to see legions of furries swooping from the heavens on wings of fire-is severely disappointed when this doesn't actually happen.*

OT:Well, yeah, I would probably be down with fraternising with another species. As for sex, well, depending on how they compare physiologically, I would also be fine with that.

The likelihood that an alien species would be even remotely like us is at best slim to none. In other words, the blue alien hottie from Avatar would be replaced by an amorphous sludge with eye stalks and tentacles that communicates through the exchange of slime. If your good with that then love really does conquer all.

Err, no. While it is true that humans because of lack of "alien ideas" may have a tendency to design aliens as too humanlike, disregarding any similarity is faulty too. Take for example your idea of them communicating through exchange of slime - this is inefficient in so many ways, that i don't even know where to start... the high energy/mass wasted? The limited range? The radically increased risk of spreading corruption (i.e. diseases)? Communicating through some kind of waves - be it what physicans call "electromagnetic" or be it through plain old pressure waves ("soundwaves") is efficient, and its not something special to this planet.

I've been reading a lot of Pokemon fanfiction recently, and it's gotten me thinking. If we dicover another sentient race, and we have the means to actually physically coming in contact with them, would relationships with them (ranging from just friendship to sexual) be ok?
Not only is it okay, it's hot. Consider the positives: it's impossible to impregnate an alien, and one can't catch alien STDs (alien diseases would be almost surely incompatible with our biological systems.) So alien love is the safest love, can't beat that.

I want to know what kind of fanfiction you were raeding to get the idea of inter-species relationships.

On topic: Don't human's already do that? Men and Women are completely different species.
No, they aren't. It's like saying male dogs and female dogs are completely different species.
And please don't tell me you think that, too.
Perhaps I do, perhaps I am a social awkward guy who doesn't understand women at all. Perhaps to me, they seem like a completely different species.

Yes. To paraphrase Jamie from Megas XLR "DUDE! I just scored with some green skinned space chicks!"

Bring on the Foxgirls from space, I say!

People are still skeptical about same sex relationships, I don't see this being welcomed with open arms. I'm cool with it though, what with all that sentience and junk. Either way I remain as celibate as currently, unless ponytail and braces is their godly vision of beauty.

Oh damn. Now I made myself look like a fool by not understanding a joke.
I apologize.

Would you really want to jeopardize the political nature of the meeting with sex?
Hmm, what if the only way the aliens could communicate were by joining their body with another, which for us would be sex, and by saying no to them you are essentially insulting them by refusing any communication, leading to painful tentacle-based interrogations and war...?

Aww, no krogan love? All you humans are racist.
I doubt human males can last... in endurance and health... specially if she gets on top (which knowing their race, is a likely threat). As for female to male krogan... again... endurance and health issues... and human women too squishy.

We haven't even seen Krogan females, much less Turian or Drell, and who knows with Hanar, I don't want to see an Elcor "female".

I'm more a Qurian person myself, though I'll admit its mainly cause Tali is nerdy badassery. Be interesting to see a Salarian female though.

Lets avoid furry aliens though... who knows, you think you'll be getting alien catwomen, but you could very well end up with a Wookie.

As for the OPs inspiration... look at yourselves people. The first thing you jump to is Ash screwing Bayleef or pikachu, when he very well could of meant Pikachu jonsing for a little of Jynxs ass. I don't know if that counts for inter-species with pokemon, but its what he probably meant. Get yo minds out of the gutter (and that stuffed pikachu doll some of you probably have...)
No one is serious, or getting on the OP's case. Just the fact that this topic came about because of a Pokemon fanfiction is pretty funny because, well, it's Pokemon.

The thing with Ash was just a funny little image. The fact that there are ANY kind of inter species relations in those fanfictions is funny because Pokemon is basically kid friendly fun (in both the anime and the games), so it makes you wonder where people are getting these ideas from.

Not necessarily, at least according to Mass Effect.

Tbh, it really came from this story: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6221175/1/United_Through_Two_Worlds. Also, this was meant to be more about whether it would be considered socially acceptable to fuck aliens.

I personally think yes; as we are both sentient races and therefore we are both able to make our own decisions.
*shudders*

I don't want to know what kind of fan fiction you were reading.

Well, if it doesn't bite anything off, then I see no reason not to. At least, as long as they be sexy aliens. A bedroom romp with something like a xenomorph? Hell to the no.

Furries detected: Readying escape mechanisms.

Seriously though; as long both parties consent, I don't see why not.
