"How to Lose weight" has 17 million hits

"How to Loose weight" has 25 million hits

Does this prove that nobody on the internet can spell? Or is this a Google thing, where they suggest misspelled words and then get a kick out of correcting you in the following screen?

Who ever put up the adverts for 'Loose' misspelt it, so it comes up.
just shows that parasites can't spell.
(I don't know if that pun was intended)

In answer to your first question, try build up a little muscle mass and combine it with exercise. More muscle means more metabolised material. Then eat less; this works for me.

On the second thing, maybe it's just the asshole in me, but I am inclined to think that people are that stupid.

My guess is that, for one, there are a lot of overweight people, and two, there are a lot of people who are bad at spelling. In this case, the technological marvel that is google has brought together 25 million of those people. Hooray for the internet!

Muscle weighs more than fat...sooo you will probably weigh a little more with a gain in muscle.
Well yeah... If you don't do exercise as well, but the idea is it is easier to burn off energy and lose (bad) weight with more muscle. Hell, even if you don't do any cardio you will still have a higher base metabolism.

Muscle may weigh more, but there tends to be a lot less of it compared to the fat you've lost in the process of developing the muscles. Usually enough to result in a loss of weight.

Not only does google find the phrase you're searching for but loose words as well. Lets say some site had a comment section and someone spelled lose wrong, it would come up, or "how to stay loose and drop weight," it would come up. You just opened the interpretation up a bit so it finds more sites.

dude dude take it slow, FAT weighs LESS than MUSCLE

so if you have MORE MUSCLE
and LESS FAT
you will have MORE WEIGHT
...and a tendency to sink

I think that might be to do with evading a law of some kind...I know there is legislation against pro-ana sites, I don't know about losing weight (or loosing weight) sites.

I do know one thing about Google - if you type in "Gre" then the suggestion "Greek gods" comes above "Green Day" which I quite like.

Yes, muscle is more dense, but fat does not weigh less.

Your average fat (obese) person weighs more than your averagely muscled yet low body fat person because fat has a tendency to attract more fat, whereas muscle growth tends to level off unless you continue to train in some extreme manner with the aid of steroids. People seem to be working under the assumption that I meant replacing all your body fat with muscle, which is quite plainly ridiculous.

So if you have MORE MUSCLE
and LESS FAT
it is more likely you will have LESS WEIGHT
...and air in your lungs that stops you sinking, and arms on your torso that help you swim.

you see now we are wandering into the realm of volume yes fat does weight less, obese people weight more because the potential volume that fat could take up far exceeds that of muscle

i know im right i will NOT lose this argument

I was always taught that it was wrong to pick on the special kid, so I won't be overtly rude.

I'm also not sure if you are messing with me, or not.

So:

- I agree with you that muscle is more dense than fat.

- I do not agree that muscle weighs more than fat, as, well, this is like saying string is longer than rope. It doesn't make any sense unless you are saying an equal volume of fat weighs less than that of muscle, which is exactly the same as saying that muscle is more dense than fat. E.g A metre of string is longer than twelve centermetres of rope, and; a cubic centermetre of fat weighs less than a cubic centermetre of muscle.

It just means that a lot of people out there aren't as anal-retentive as I am about spelling and grammar.

Sorry, it wasn't neccessary but I'm in one of those moods where I'm hungover and a little abrasive. I get that feeling all the time, and then dig myself a hole that I can't climb out of with people smarter than me.
