Hello all, i was just watching a tv show about the future of stuff, and it just said that in the future people will be able to send hugs through the internet. how would you feel about getting a hug over the internet, and how do you feel about hugs in general?

EDIT: they are replicated by some weird life jacket thingy. i dont really know the terminology.

Well since it is physically impossible to hug someone over the internet, I'll say they are stupid. Real hugs are too. Affection is for the weak.

I love hugs! One size fits all! I give them and get them all the time.

But over the internet...not so much, it's actually a bit creepy to me.

Awww... Someone needs a hug. *hugs*

Anyway, the point of a hug is to feel the warmth and embrace of another, how would a computer replicate that?

I'd love that. I love being hugged, but it usually depends on the person. I'll hug strangers without hesitation.
I'm a really affectionate person, so it doesn't bother me.

Real hugs are better. You can get some small affection from a cyber hug, but with a real hug, you can feel the person, feel their love. Spread some loving!

Anyways... I don't mind hugs. If someone wants to hug me then I'll let them, but they can't last longer then 10 seconds, or it just starts to get creepy.

What about high fives? Cyber-fives would be much cooler then hugs.
So true.

Depends. Getting a "You just got hugged" doesn't seem too advanced.

Whereas arms protruding from your comp that would bear-hug you whenever seems like leaps and bounds.

But having mannequin arms built into the screen is lame. Maybe a screen Transformer... hmm...

EDIT: Also, I think it could work like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMD9FnHSJ14
